Sorry, but different Rainbow Death from the Nightmare Before Nightmare Night, though of course she's based on her. Honestly, I'd rather just keep The Nightmare Before Nightmare Night a sequelness entity to preserve its charm, though an extended, edited version is a possibility.
Basically, Rainbow Dash ends up tempting fate a bit too much when she tries an ultra-risky maneuver to enter the Wonderbolts. The expected happens... Unfortunately, since Rainbow Dash is already a supernatural being, being the Element of Loyalty and all, the old Death ends up in a bit of a bind because of this. The forces of nature are drawing her soul back to her body, but this would result her becoming a hideous, undead Lich who will spend the rest of eternity in a state of cold, barren, numbness.
So Death, being a chill reaper and all (who I'll base off Grim from Billy and Mandy for the hell of it), gives her a choice: you can either return to your body as a Lich and get awesome lichy powers, but the side effects of feeling like a cold, numb, shell, or you can take my underpayed, full-time job with no retirement benefits, and have to reap the souls of the dead every night until a new reaper can take her place (in which case she'll die). However, this will allow her to keep her body as it was.
Rainbow chooses the second, and from then on out, every soul had better be ready to have its ass kicked into the afterlife...
That is, until one who chose the other option, an Element of Loyalty from years upon years ago decides to take advantage of the new Death's weakened state... and seeks to draw the one he lost out of the afterlife and into a host body...
So yeah, let me know what you think. Also, Strangeverse story or no? I mean, I suppose it could be, really, but I dunno.
That actually sounds like a badass story idea.
I'd say keep it separate from your 'verse.

I'd say keep it separate from the strangeverse, because in future strangeverse fics you may want Dash alive and normal.
Sounds like a really cool story. I'm looking forward to seeing it debut. I'd probably third the sentiment that it should be a "stand-alone" story.
While it'd be interesting to see Rainbow Death's interaction with some of the strangeverse characters, I gotta agree with some of the other commenters and say keep it separate.
Doh , Rainbow as a lich would have been fun...
