Mr. Handagote · 8:28pm Aug 20th, 2013

I played this game a few years back after my laptop died. I had to find a non hardware-destroying game to play on the family craptop while I got a new laptop sorted out. So, I came across Machinarium in my Steam library, and thought "What the heck? I'll give it a go." Point-and-click adventure has never really been something to catch my eye. The interactions with the environment and puzzle solving were not things I typically looked for in a game at the time. My first impressions of this game varied from charmed, to "wtf is this??" As the game progressed, I leaned more and more to the charmed feeling, until it was utter delight with this intriguing little game. Amanita Design did a brilliant job with this game and exploiting the player's curiosity. I always found myself clicking over the entire world, wondering what the next little surprise would be (and if you like these types of games, Botanicula is another fantastic one to check out.) At the time, most of the OST for this game didn't stand out to me too much, except for one particular track. There is no reason the music should work as well as it does in this game. The music is almost separate from the game entirely, yet it draws the player further into the little machine world of the game. Mr. Handagote is the first track that I really listened to in this game, as in I would sit around in the area of the game where this particular track plays. I love listening to all the subtleties in the Machinarium OST. It is incredibly bizarre and a treat to listen to.
