I know this is a site dedicated to all things My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. However, I've seen other authors here blog other stuff that interests them. I figure I try it out myself. I have a lot of things that interest me and my own skewed view on them. I tried doing it on YouTube but making videos is very time consuming. Plus my camera doesn't have the best video or sound quality, and I can't afford to trick myself out with a better camera, sound equipment or lighting.
Blogging: The poor man's vlogging.
Plus, the response to Snowy Night was better than the response to anything I've done on YouTube! That makes me think that my skills are best left to the written word than in visual media. So that's what I'm going to try to do here. I'm going to try to make everything I talk about somehow pony related though. If I feel there isn't enough interest in the other things I'm interested in, I might take it elsewhere.
And so we begin.
I'm going to assume that a lot of Bronies watch The Colbert Report. I say he's earned a place in the hearts of fans since, he shouted out Bronies once.
Stephen Colbert Shouts Out Bronies
I'm pretty sure that counts as The Colbert Bump.
Anyway, I've been a long time fan of Stephen Colbert. I used to watch The Colbert Report almost every day! For those of you not in the know, Stephen has been having a music festival on his show every August for the past three years called Colbchella. This years Colbchella aired last Tuesday night, August 6th. It was supposed to feature Daft Punk performing their hit song "Get Lucky", which Stephen referred to as "The Song of the Summer of the Century".
However, in a story that's too ridiculous not to be true, Stephen explains how Daft Punk cannot appear on his show because they are supposed to do a "surprise" performance at the MTV Video Music Awards in September.
It's funnier when Stephen explains.
StePhest Colbchella '013- Special Guest Stephen Colbert!
Stephen spends the rest of the show trying to salvage the situation. The best part was a video of Stephen dancing to "Get Lucky" alongside a number of his guests from the past week or so and others. This included Hugh Laurie, Jeff Bridges, Bryan Cranston, the Rockettes, Jimmy Fallon, Henry Kissinger, Nick Cannon and the judges from America's Got Talent, Matt Damon, and even Jon Stewart! (For those of you not in the know, Jon Stewart has been on some kind of sabbatical for the summer, and Jon Oliver has been hosting The Daily Show in his stead.)
StePhest Colbchella '013- Time to Dance
I eschew calling episodes of The Colbert Report the best ever because Stephen always manages to outdo himself. Always. This though had me LOLing all the way through! It was just so awesome! Supposedly, Stephen had only two hours notice that Daft Punk would not be appearing. I don't know how he was able to pull all of that off, or perhaps the video was made for another purpose.
In the eleventh and a half hour, Stephen was saved because Robin Thicke just so happened to be in his audience and performed his megahit song that Stephen deemed for personal and the professional reason the Song of the Summer of the Century: "Blurred Lines".
StePhest Colbchella '013- Robin Thicke- "Blurred Lines"
I know "Blurred Lines" is a pornographic song about rape fantasy. But dang it! It's so catchy!
I wonder if anyone has ever made a PMV of either "Get Lucky" or "Blurred Lines".
I guess they have.
I'm sorry but CMC plus Blurred Lines is just adorable!
Overall, Colbchella '013 was awesome! Stephen Colbert is always awesome! If he's ever knocked down, he can pick himself up, and it's always awesome!
Stephen Colbert just made himself 20% Cooler!
And now a surprise update!
I would just like to let everyone know that my next story is already in the works. This time it's a comedy. It's a crossover between My Little Pony and The Colbert Report! That is all for now.
God bless you all. God bless America. And God bless Equestria.
