The Equestria Chronicles has its first illustration! · 7:17am Aug 1st, 2013

In my quest to elevate The Equestria Chronicles up from being just a mere story into something more, I have begun the task of commissioning the artwork that will be required to flesh out the world and bring it to life for the readers. For the record, each of the five Acts that will constitute the Sun and Moon series will have two large, fully-detailed illustrations, in addition to whatever supplementary pictures I believe to be required. Naturally the work is not well-known enough to attract artistic talent on its own, so for the moment I have commissioned Doctor Tastybeaver to handle the work, including the necessary cover art.

There will also be need of character portraits (for a character glossary that will append Act V), and several maps. All in all, the plan requires more than sixty images of varying sizes and qualities, which hopefully will be obtained over the course of the next few years. If any of you that read this are artists and are looking for a way to get your name out there, I am always ready to spread some of the commissions around to other proprietors.

On that subject, today the first full-size illustration has been integrated into the work, that being an image the capital of Equestria, pre-Discord. While it currently resides in its final resting place of Chapter 8 of Ascending Star, I shall also link to the full-size image here, as I am extraordinarily thankful to my wonderful artist for all the effort that was put into the work, and I think that he deserves a bit more notoriety than he currently enjoys.

Thanks once again and evermore to all of my readers. Progress is slow, and at the moment I am looking into potentially bringing a long-term editor onto the project, in the hope of raising overall quality. I'm already re-writing this thing once, and I don't particularly want to have to do it again. (Any of you that are looking for a dedicated editor that is willing to become invested in a large project might want to consider looking in the same place as I did: Overly Extensive Editors. Their page is newly renovated, and open for business!)

May Celestia's light shine forever,
