One year ago today, on August 1st, 2012, my first story passed moderation and was released onto the site. That story has since been left in the dust by my others, but never forgotten. One year ago today I never even considered reading shipping, let alone writing it. One year ago today, I didn't really know what "Twidash" meant. One year ago today, I was a terrible, struggling author with little skill. Today, I am an author with a fair amount of skill, a few stories, and a few followers. One year ago today, I never would have dreamed of having more then one story on this site. I never would have dreamed of hitting (and passing) 1000 story views. I never thought I'd make it to the popular stories list (still working on featured, though, next goal!) and I never thought I'd get 1000 views on a single story. I never thought I'd get 100 favourites on a single story, nor 100 likes. I didn't think it was possible for me to have fans who truly enjoyed my writing.
One year ago today, I was not as happy as I am now.
Fan fiction has become a huge part of my life over the past year. From writing to reading, even editing for my friend. I never really thought about what else was going on in the community. I never knew about this entire, sub-community here on fimfiction and other sites.
This is my one year anniversary as a writer, and I am not stopping here. I will keep reading and writing until it is no longer possible for me to do so. I plan on passing two years, I plan on passing three years. I plan on passing as many milestones as time will allow.
One year of fan fiction has taught me a lot.
One year in this fan fiction community has helped me a lot.
One year of writing has greatly improved my skill, to a point where I look back at my original story, and I can't believe I wrote it.
One year is a long time.
One year is over.
Another year is starting.
