My first blog post, and it does not come bearing good news · 2:15am Jul 15th, 2013
I was going to have to make a blog post eventually, that much is certain, I was just hoping that it would be under better circumstances, like getting 100 subscribers, or winning the lottery, or being given the 'sexiest man alive' award. Alas, this post is for none of those things. (Stay tuned for the 'sexiest man alive' award post, it's only a matter of time after all)
I use a dingy little Acer laptop to do all of my writing, one that cannot be trusted with anything more complicated than holding and creating word documents. Unfortunately, this 6 or 7 year old device that was given to me by my sister when she got a Mac decided to die on me, leaving me to redo the 5000 or so words that I had done for the next chapter of Me, You, and a Library for Two. If this concerns you that much, though I don't see why it would, take heart in the fact that I'm gonna try and double my writing to try and get back to the point I was at, hopefully without pulling out all my hair because frankly, there is no worse feeling than being forced to rewrite something completely from scratch. The ideas don't come out as they should, the dialogue always seems inferior by comparison, and it's just plain infuriating having to rewrite something that was perfectly fine in the first place!
But I digress. I know I'm not the greatest when it comes to quick updates, and I apologize for that. I'm hoping I'll be able to change that, and I'll try not to let the loss of my writing laptop slow me down too much (I hate mechanical keyboards soooo much. If the keys aren't flat, I can't type fast for some reason...). I'll try to finish it as fast as I can, but it will be later than the usual 2 or so weeks.
I can already feel my bowels clenching at the thought of having to redo it all...ugh.
I'm probably the opposite with regard to keyboards: the clankier and noisier, the better. (This may be due to having grown up with old-style typewriters, one of which I managed to snag at the age of fourteen.)
Still, I'm not unfamiliar with Stories Taking Longer Than Expected: I pulled one back entirely for a rewrite, and have barely caught up to where I'd left off. And you're not forgotten, so don't worry about that.
It's rather disappointing to know that I will have to wait longer to read the next chapter but I will still be here ready to read the next chapter once you finish it.
