"Legends of Equestria" is now "The Equestria Chronicles"

Hello everyone.

Those of you that stay up to date with the various goings-on in the community would doubtless have heard about the upcoming fanmade, pony-themed MMO Legends of Equestria. As excited about the prospect as I was initially, naturally it also caused me a fair degree of consternation. There was a significant risk of the fact that we shared a name causing harm to both parties, although since their brand was already well-established, the risk was primarily mine. I assumed that the biggest danger would come from people assuming that my work was some kind of compendium of the official lore of the other universe, and that the confusion would eventually subtract from both user-bases.

After a small amount of research, I concluded that legally speaking, there was no challenge to be made, as the date that they registered their website was several months before I could ever claim to have been using the name. If I was willing to put down $200, I could register the trademark to send them a C & D letter, but that course of action would just be un-gentlemanly, and probably a gross overreaction. Eventually, I did get in contact with the developers, who promised me that they have no problems with the secondary use of their product name. For an instant, I considered soldiering on under those conditions.

However, a little more research convinced me that this would hardly be ideal. The primary problem is that, as it happens, the legendsofequestria.wikia.com namespace is already registered to the other group. Naturally, I want the wiki to stand on its own, and avoid confusion where possible. Thus, as a way of capping all of this drama, today I am officially changing the name of the universe from "Legends" to "The Equestria Chronicles". Hopefully, the new name will still capture the intended scope of the narrative, and I've come to realize that it actually makes a bit more sense from an in-universe perspective as well.

On a related note, I will be beginning work on theequestriachronicles.wikia.com at some point in the near future, just to make sure that no one else can nab it from me. And, to those of you waiting, waiting for content, I have made it an absolute goal to have Ascending Star finished by the end of the summer, and if all goes according to plan, Act II by the end of the year.
