Hiatus · 8:41am Jul 11th, 2013
Well, it's probably about time; all my fics, except Rainbooms and Romance, have been officially put on hiatus. I didn't want to do this, but I felt I should. Why did it take me this long? Well, in all honesty, they aren't on a true hiatus; for all of them I have at least 1.5K words of a chapter written up. It's just that I keep re-writing those words, or getting stuck so much that I have to completely overhaul the entire chapter again and again and again. It's come to the point where I'm simply no longer making progress on anything. My week-long vacation didn't help much either. If you're a follower of RR then you'll probably have read the reasons why it took me so long to update that. For those of you that didn't, basically I haven't been very happy with my writing as of a late, and it's causing me some issues. More detail can be found in my RR chapter. Now then, just because my stories are now on hiatus does not mean I'm stopping my work on them, it just gives me more time to work on them. When I have something going, I feel very pressured with the knowledge that there are people waiting for the next chapter to get done, and I feel obligated to get it out as fast as I can. This puts a lot of stress on me, especially with how I've been feeling with my writing. My hope is that marking my fics as on hiatus will remove this stress, and allow me to write more freely. This freedom from a deadline will hopefully improve both my speed and quality to something I can be proud of. While my speed as never been a real issue (On a good day, I can get as much as 6K words done in about 3 hours, my average writing session) it has gone to waist on re-writing things over and over and never getting any further. My hope is to take at least one of my fics off hiatus and get back into the rhythm of updating them within a week, but I'm making no promises. As for RR, I said from the beginning that it will update irregularly, so I feel no deadline with it.
Now that that is over, I have on last thing to say.
Thank you all so much. I've gotten a lot of good comments, some friendly advice, some constructive criticism, and some just straight up praise. Without it, I would likely not have the will to carry on writing these stories. I've posted chapters I've been uneasy about, only to have a great response from my readers. I've posted chapters I thought were good, only to get advice on how to make them better. Only once have I gotten a negative commenter, and a few of my readers actually sprung up to my defence. This truly is one amazing community, and I am thrilled to be a part of it. I hope to get back into writing soon. Until then, brony on, my friends.
