Regent Deleted Scenes #3 · 7:39am Jul 10th, 2013

This scene was partially cut and rewritten because I really didn't like the massive paragraphs of dialogue and it just didn't flow all that well.

“Your Grace, Admiral Flight Deck has arrived.”

“Please show her in.”

The servant nodded before leaving.

“I still don't get what you see in her.” Glass grumbled.

“And that, dear Glass, is why you must constantly come to me for help. You lack the ambition and foresight to accomplish anything of importance. Admiral Flight Deck represents the best opportunely the nobility's had in hundreds of years to reclaim some of our power.”

“I don't see how. Her little coup plan, while cute, is guaranteed to fail when the Princesses return.”

Blueblood eyed his glass of wine.

“And again, you fail to see the whole picture. Of course Aunty will mop up any pitiful attempts she may make, but who will be the ones that are able to infiltrate and help thwart the coup from the inside?”

Glass's eyes lit with realization.

“And when we show what we've done, the nobility will be hailed for its efforts.”

“Precisely. My ancestors were far too ambitious with their attempts and it cost them a chamber of Parliament. We must chip away slowly to regain power, not try to grab it all at once.”

The door opened once more. And in walked a blue mare and a white stallion. Both wore mess dress naval uniforms. Blueblood and Glass House stood to greet them.

“Good evening, Prince Blueblood.”

“Good evening, Fleet Admiral,” he looked to the stallion, “Commodore.”

The stallion nodded curtly. Flight glanced at the stallion.

“Please forgive Ludicrous Gibs. He's not the most talkative of the Brass.”

Blueblood motioned for the two to sit down on the nearby chairs.

“I see. I must say that I was quite astonished when I first heard of your plans. The National Defense Council has never attempted such a thing before.”

Flight Deck sighed.

“We wouldn't be planning this if it wasn't for recent events. Nightmare Moon, Discord, Sombra and now Archmage Morning Star and the Arcane Magic Council's been investigating rumors of a mirror of some sort in the Crystal Empire. It's very disheartening and infuriating that Princess Celestia doesn't trust Equestria's armed forces with information that would help us defend it. We're only doing what we see as necessary to ensure Equestria's future. How many more skeletons do the Princesses have in their closet that they're not telling us about? It's only a matter of time before one of them proves undefeatable.”

Blueblood nodded.

“It's understandable, but how are you going to go about this?”

“I'm already consolidating within the armed forces. The Royal Equestrian Navy is almost fully backing this plan. The Royal and Night Guards are proving far more uncontrollable. It may yet be a while until the full plan can be enacted. When that happens, the Regent—regrettably—will have to be eliminated. We're going to have a hard enough time dealing with the Princesses and reducing the number of alicorns will greatly aid us.”

“You're talking a dangerous, not to mention risky, game, Flight Deck. If you wish us to back this scheme of yours, there's going to have to be something in it for us. Considerable risk involves considerable reward, after all.”

Flight Deck smiled.

“I'd expect nothing less from the nobility. Once everything is finished, the new government will need ponies to run it. As interesting as politics is, it's not a field the National Defense Council wishes to become entangled with longer than necessary. While the Council will retain substantial power, it will only be to ensure the continued protection of Equestria.”

This one was cut because I wanted to redo how Flight Deck approached Blueblood.

Blueblood nodded.

“Ah, yes. Those were threats—you could even go as far as to call them enemies—but they were quickly and effortlessly dealt with.”

“That may be, but it's doubtful they would have even became problems had the Diarchy responded better.”

Blueblood narrowed his eyes.

“What exactly are you getting at?”

“As beneficial as we think Princesses are, in reality, they've been the ones who have threatened Equestria the most.”

Both of the unicorns were shocked.

“What?!”

“That's simply outrageous!”

Flight Deck motioned for them to calm down.

“Is it? Nightmare Moon, really Princess Luna. Princess Celestia's ill advised banishment of her sister caused countless problems—from the Everfree Incident, over to the princess's astonishing failures to warn anypony about her sister's impending return. Had it not been for the Regent and her friends, the Cosmic Council's International Commission for the Review of the Environment estimates that tidal locking would have killed every living thing on this planet by now.”

Glass House wouldn't have her diarchs disrespected.

“And that's neither of Their Majesties fault! Nightmare Moon was a tragedy that had no great outcome. Princess Celestia had no choice but to banish her sister.”

Flight Deck glared at Glass.

“And why didn't she tell anypony of the Nightmare's return? I'll tell you why. Because had she, we would have launched a well placed tactical megaspell at Nightmare Moon—quasi-immortal princess or not, you don't walk away from that—and taken the threat out perminatly. But, she couldn't bear to lose her sister forever. Which is just one more reason why she's failed. As a leader, you sometimes need to make difficult decisions. De

I like how the last scene is cut short after half/quarter a word.
It's also funny that those guys think they are actually able to kill an immortal, where the very word "immortality" denies that outcome.:rainbowlaugh:

Ludicrous Gibs. What's his talent? High power precision strikes?

It's very disheartening and infuriating that Princess Celestia doesn't trust Equestria's armed forces with information that would help us defend it.

Gee, I wonder why THAT is. :ajbemused:

:rainbowlaugh: Says the pony planning a coup d'état against Celestia! :rainbowlaugh: Oh, I love the hypocrisy right there!
