So, my first blog post. Whatever shall I do? I should probably introduce myself (one has to be polite in civil company, don't-cha-know), but how to do it?
Well, I could go down the Fyodor Dostoyevsky route (which is much more fun to say when drunk, trust me), something like:
"I am a sick man . . . I am a spiteful man."
Buuuuuut... for that to work I'd need to change my name to something decidedly more Russian, and I can't be arsed. So how about the classic:
"If you really want to hear about it, the first thing you'll probably want to know is where I was born, and what my lousy childhood was like, and how my parents were occupied and all before they had me, and all that David Copperfield kind of crap, but I don't feel like going into it, if you want to know the truth."
Not a Catcher in the Rye fan? No matter- my library awaits!
BAM! Dodie Smith:
"I write this sitting in the kitchen sink." Or on my desk chair, but whatever.
BAM! Herman Melville:
"Call me Ishmael." Don't. It'll almost certainly end badly.
BAM! Jeffrey Eugenides:
"I was born twice: first, as a baby girl, on a remarkably smogless Detroit day in January of 1960; and then again, as a teenage boy, in an emergency room near Petoskey, Michigan, in August of 1974." Nope! Still not right.
Ah well, I sure I'll find something actually about me eventually. In the meantime, I leave you with Kurt Vonnegut, and Slaughterhouse-five:
"All this happened, more or less."
Yep. It's alllll true.
More or Less.
Just wanted to let you know that I enjoyed reading this.

Why, thank you. I very much enjoyed reading A Dream. Glad I was able to reciprocate.
