Sephiroth · 8:26pm May 23rd, 2013
This is just a random ramble blog. Feel free to disregard.
Some of you may have noticed in my story the numerous references that I make to one specific character, if you know enough to know who he is, of course. I use his established theme in one of my chapters, at least two of my OCs allude to him in some way and I've always wanted to do some kind of crossover featuring him.
I am of course referring to the One Winged Angel, the Chosen One, the Ruler of the Planet known as Sephiroth, the main antagonist from Final Fantasy VII. See image below.
Now, here is the pony version
Now, to clear some things up for those of you who may not know. Sephiroth was part of an elite group of fighters known as SOLDIER and was considered to be among the best of them, a hero to many. That was until the day he discovered the origins of his birth, as part of an alien organism named JENOVA, believed to be part of a long dead and powerful race called the Ancients or Cetra. Because of this, Sephiroth believed himself to be something of a Messiah, destined to rule the Planet with his 'mother'. He was driven to insanity, burned a whole village to the ground, killed dozens if not hundreds of people and was willing to destroy the whole world to achieve his goals.
FF VII is the only game of the series I've played and its villain left a great impression on me. I don't think I remember a villain who had me dreading his every appearance, announced by the always chilling music cue, Those Chosen By The Planet.
He always had great presence whenever he was on-screen. Even though he doesn't have much in the way of personality, he was cold, ruthless, determined and boy did I know it. I got one thing off seeing him: don't screw with me. I mean, who would with a sword that long (Insert phallic references here)?
Everything about him, his appearance, attire, voice, weapon and his theme, One Winged Angel (Which has about 6 or 7 different remixes) is something I love about him. He never stops tormenting the hero, kills one of the main characters and even after he's meant to be dead, he finds a way to return, more menacing than ever before.
You might be tempted to say that he's overused, that he's not developed well and he's just a mama's boy and I dispute none of that. But I will say that I honestly don't care. To me, Sephiroth is and always will be, one of my greatest villains of all time.
Just try and tell him he's overcompensating. I dare you. I double dare you.
... Ghirahim from Skyward Sword.
Couldn't this be a possible spoiler blog?
Oh well. Sephiroth's pretty cool, but I like Ansem better.
Idea does sound good. But I rather wanna to see Sephiroth as reborned, rather than keeping him as same murderous insane killer. ( Story would be quite bloody and full of death, if he stay as himself. With no pony could stop him. )
Think Sephiroth getting the 'second chance', after his death in the Lifesteam. Without Jenova messing in his head, he would be Equestria's the great hero. But he doesn't have many friends. Which is perfect excuse for Celestia sending him to Ponyville to learn about friendship. He will stay loyal and friendly forward his friends.
