    Fixing "Equestria Girls," Part 2

So, having spent enough time bitching about Equestria Girls, I think it's probably time to get onto the meaty bits: how I would have written it, if I'd had the time.

    Fixing "Equestria Girls", Part 1

I've now sat through Equestria Girls twice, and I have to say, both times I've come away fairly disappointed. The film is visually interesting, and many of the jokes are well-crafted, but the plot doesn't hold up under the scrutiny I would give to a tissue after sneezing in it. I'd love to know under what constraints the studio was laboring, because this really doesn't feel like it's up to

    Everfree NW 2013 Writing Track

As some of you may know, I'm not only a writer -- though by my output lately you probably couldn't tell that, either -- but I'm also the Writing Track coordinator for Everfree NW 2013. As such, I'm looking for talented writers who'll be at the convention to help share some of the literary love and host panels at the event. I've been putting together writing tracks and teaching classes on

"Everypony agreed that Pinkie's fifth Alicorn Party was the best one yet."

While the rest of the bearers of the Elements have evolved into alicorns and joined the ranks of the celestial elite, Pinkie remains stubbornly, frustratingly, humiliatingly ordinary. Though she's become the head baker at Canterlot Castle to stay close to her friends, she can't help but feel twinges of envy and fear at being left behind. Still, with Pumpkin Cake's help as her apprentice in the kitchen and the rest of the bearers around as her friends, she lives a fairly comfortable life.

Until the dreams begin, at least. Dreams of muffinstorms, of dancing with stars, of sea ponies swimming through an endless summer sky. Dreams of an uncomfortably familiar voice, of wings and scales and claws, of turning the world inside-out to show everypony the magic that lives inside her. And then, one morning, a dream of being more than just an earth pony... and waking up with a griffin claw.

Discord may claim to be reformed, but with the possible birth of another draconequus, he's looking for validation. The other bearers are equal parts concerned and afraid, wondering if this will be the twist that finally breaks them. Celestia's own past will finally catch up to her. And Pumpkin Cake will have to gather a group of her friends to learn about the magic of friendship.

Contains DiscoPieLestia, Alicornication, cola ponies, and some really prime chaos.

Now with super extra bonus canon confirmation! (For some value of "confirmation", anyway.) :raritywink:
