Well this has been a bit of a flop... · 7:08pm Mar 18th, 2012
Recently I started a long awaited sequel to my first story, Winter's Howl. While Winter's Howl never became immensely popular, it did have quite a bit of a following (over 3 and a half thousand people! WOW!) Naturally, I expected at least the majority of that following to at least check out Spring's Song...Unfortunately this has not been the case...at all. I love writing for you guys, but I feel like there just hasn't been the following to continue Spring's Song. (It doesn't even have 300 readers...) Do you guys know any way I could at least advertise the story a bit? (Yes, I know I'm being an attention whore, but the spotlight is reserved for those who do something bold enough to take it.)
MAOR CHAPTERS!!!!!1111!!11!!!!1!1!!ONE!!!!1ONE!!!!!!!ELEVEN!!!11!!
But in all seriousness, if you set this blog post to alert people who are tracking Winter's Howl, you very well may have solved your own problem. I just can't wait for the next chapter! :D
well, if the first one was so good, why don't you try sending it to EQD. its at least worth a shot, and you can put a note at the end that theirs a sequel.
Er, I think you're making a bit of a false assumption here. There are currently about 200 people tracking Winter's Howl (though some people probably untrack a story once it is complete) and about 150 tracking Spring's Song. The number you're looking at is the number of views on your most viewed chapter, and I don't know about other people, but I reread Winter's Howl at least three or four times once it was completed.
35625 I agree.
the story is so good how do people not wanna read it >.<
35630 my thoughts exactly
35627
According to what I'm seeing, 3,651 people are tracking/tracked Winter's Howl...
35686 ...erm.
Sorry, but that's not correct. Hold your mouse over that number until alt text shows up.
I don't think it's such a big deal that the squeal isn't quite being followed the way you'd like it to be. It's only got one chapter after all. I personally loved Winter's Howl. I originally ran across it in the featured box at the top of this site. It's how I find a lot of what I read. My advice: Give it some time, your writing is top notch.
yes i love Springs song its getting good Spend the word bronies
35729 i found it the same way and i loved it, its the first shipping i ever read and got me hooked
It's tracked, but I try to finish one fic, or at least get caught up on chapters before I start a new one, so maybe you just need to give it some more time? I have currently 306 unread chapters....but yours Is next on the list after the current one.
i don't know if you noticed this, but it literally doesn't have a single down vote. not a single one. pretty sure it means its good.
35686
3,651 is the number that a single chapter was viewed,
aka one of the chapters was viewed 3,651 times, 59,584 people have read it in total
35729
It has 4...
35933
thank you, I have found inspiration!
Huh...yeah that is good
35983
Ah, I see.
Hey, what your doing is great. My fiction only has 28 or so tracking. I'm sure it would get more if I hadn't set it to Mature.
You have to understand how early it is i your story. A lot of the people who read Winter's Howl might not even know about Spring's Song yet. It was always the same whenever I posted a sequel to a story. Neither of my sequels to Family Mares reached over a thousand views until a few weeks after I started writing them (and that was after getting them hyped to the point where I had people sending me threats concerning how long it would take me to release them
)
Keep in mind, you only had 205 people who are still tracking Winter's Howl. It's entirely possible that a lot of the readers who tracked it stopped tracking it as soon as you finished it (much like I used to do)
What I'm saying is be patient and persistent, and you'll get readers
36099 Plus, until I read this blog, I didn't even know it was out yet. I'm going to read it as soon as I catch up to some other stuff.
I wasn't aware you'd even started publishing the sequel yet. You can add one to your tracking count right now.
