No, I haven't forgotten about Pillow Talk · 3:56pm Mar 28th, 2013

But, I am having a bad case of writer's block where it is concerned. There are at least three major reasons behind it that I can see:

1. My main interpretation of Applejack as a person (or pony) has changed. Whenever I think of this story, I have to remind myself of how I started to write Applejack so that I can maintain continuity.

2. To be perfectly honest, I am not enamored with the vision of Equestria I've presented in this story anymore. The story started as just a one-shot, later I thought there might be more story to tell, now I find myself doubting the wisdom of that decision.

3. I'm not entirely sure how to end the conflict anymore. The outline I had in my head worked from a comedy perspective, but in other ways it will feel rushed and somewhat forced. If I stretch out the timeline to unrush it, I'm not sure how Applejack's absence from Sweet Apple Acres for a long period of time will affect things. I have some ideas about this, but not enough yet.

Why do I mention this? Because for anyone who is following me, it is apparent that I am not dead and have been actively working in other stories (and am hitting submit on a new 1200 word one-shot right after I post this blog). I want to assure you that Pillow Talk is not dead, it's just resting, or possibly pining for the fjords, if it were a Norwegian Blue with lovely plumage.

How has Applejack changed for you? (just curious).

When I first started this story, I didn't really have a clear notion of who Applejack is as a pony (same goes for Dash, but I came closer there). Looking back at Pillow Talk Applejack, she comes off to me now as a rather generic character who I sort of forced certain traits on for the sake of the story I had in mind. I was still taking cues from the series proper, but from small slices rather than the wider picture.

My Southern Skies Applejack is closer to my current vision, and, I think, a closer match for canon Applejack over a wider scope.

whatever you decide to do im sure you will have the fans full support! :yay:

My foremost idea currently, sad as it may be, is to cancel this story (and post a summary of the unwritten plot line) and recycle the bits I do like for use in a new story. As soon as I get my current project out of the way, that is.

But it's still up in the air at this point.
