The Codex Explained: The Evil of Discord · 11:47am Mar 28th, 2013
This post contains spoilers for Chapter 3 of The Codex: A Sister's Lament, although you can probably work out for yourself which character is going to be making an appearance.
I've been looking forward to writing this chapter since I started, because I wanted a chance to write for Discord. But there were a few factors which meant I wasn't able to portray him with quite the same silliness that we see in the series. He is definitely meant to be the same entity we know and love, but there is an important feature of the framing device that I had to remember. This chapter was written by Celestia sometime before the present day.
And Celestia absolutely hates Discord.
Needless to say, he's given her plenty of reason to hate him already, and the repercussions of his time in the world are yet to be felt fully. Celestia blames him for so much of what happens that, as hard as she tries to be objective, she can't help but let her judgement and recollection be clouded by her feelings. Whether or not her hatred is fully justified will be explored later.
Another point of note is that, even as the world gradually became worse and worse, Harmony never stepped in of its own accord as it did at Everfree. Food for thought there.
Niiice historical planning!
If you want help with this, just drop me a line.
953650 Thanks for the offers, but I've already got a plan worked out up until the present day. If I hit a wall at any point, I'd willingly accept your help, though.
Also, the appropriateness of your avatar to my story just occurred to me. Nice.
953658 Thanks.
