Regarding Dawning Reality and MallaJong's Recommendation. · 10:12pm Mar 16th, 2013
Whelp, it goes without saying that I'm still writing Dawning Reality. I'm currently about a thousand words into Chapter 10: Part III (I know, three parts? I must be out of my mind. What kind of author subdivides his chapters into part? Well, me for starters), but I'm a bit stuck, so don't expect an update too soon. Although I hope to have it complete within a time frame of a month. That is to say, in two or three weeks. Hopefully. Not promising anything. This time.
So anyways, there you have it. And remember when I'd said in previous blog posts that I was writing it by the seat of my pants before? (That phrase sounds weird, I know, bear with me). Well, I've changed my methods, and gotten a rough outline, so I now no longer have to wonder who Spike will end up with. I already know the answer, so expect a much more concise storyline now! That's not to say it won't still have it's ups and downs and twists and turns...
Ah, that brings me to another important thing! I must make this clear, because otherwise, this can be misunderstood, and the story can be misunderstood, and I can get myself in a whole heap of trouble otherwise!
Please, look back at the picnic scene. Just for a moment. Re-read it. I know you won't mind, it's probably one of the best scenes in the story so far. I should know. I wrote it, and it was my favorite part to write as well. So far.
Anyways, in that scene, all five friends accuse each other of liking Spike, right? Right. However, does that imply that all of them do like Spike? Remember the phrase that I used, about the accusations losing all sense of seriousness?
This is a shipping fic, and as such, it will have shipping. And I'm hoping for a god amount of it. However, bear in mind that I can't ship all six mares with Spike....
Or can I?
Just, don't e mad if the pony that you were rooting for to get together with Spike, in the end, actually likes somepony else, ok? That's all I'm saying. Don't consider this a spoiler, and technically, I'm not saying that this story ends with a Spike Harem. Nor am I saying that it doesn't.
MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
Alright, on to some more serious business.
Another fellow Author MallaJong, an author I respect dearly, and is well-known in this fandom, recently mentioned my story in his blog post. This is what he had to say, verbatim:
"Check out Dawning Reality (Spike Harem), one of the most well-written, visually stimulating experience for a Spike shipfic. I've fallen in love with it, and I'm just on Chapter Eight! It is heart-wrenching, it is sweet, it is funny, and most importantly it is a force to be dealt with when it comes to inner reflection. Hurry up and update, dude! Hurry up!"
I won't lie to you. My brain exploded.
Twice.
My heart followed shortly after that.
I am absolutely overjoyed that such a respectable and noteworthy author such as MallaJong1 recognized my story. To be quite frank, I don't really consider my story to be AS good as he depicts it. So I feel a bit pressured, because I can only hope that MallaJong doesn't raise other people's expectations about my story, and then my story doesn't meet them! But whatever, that's besides the point!
Another thing that's worth noting is the other statement that he made, that I'd like to share with you. I'll link to the blog post in a second, but read this carefully:
"Did the authors ask me to recommend them? Nope. They have no idea I wrote this blog post praising their work. I just vehemently believe that they should be garnering as much attention as they could get, which could definitely be more!"
Well, the first part is true. I never asked MallaJong to recommend my story, but like I said, I REALLY REALLY REALLY SUPER DUPER appreciate it. However, that I should be garnering as much attention as I could get? I guess that's just a matter of opinion. I certainly appreciate the attention, but like I said, I feel a bit overwhelmed, that perhaps people are getting their hopes up, and I simply fail to meet expectations. It's happened to me before.
So basically, I really hope I meet expectations this time around!
Anyways....
Where was I?
MallaJong1, If you're reading this, please know that I really appreciate your gesture, I love your stories, you're a much better writer than I could ever hope to be, and I humbly present to you my thanks for all the attention you've given me. Thank you kind sir.
OH, here's a goody for you goody-two-shoes out there! Go read, fave, and comment on MallaJong's "Spike's Rainbow Dash" (search for it you lazy mules), and you'll get a sweet surprise if you mention that I sent you! Go, check it out, seriously! I'm reading it right now, and I'll admit, the summary tself had me hooked, but when I started reading the actual story, hooked just didn't fit anymore. It was more like mesmerized! Go. NOW! GO, READ, FAVE COMMENT, TELL HIM I SENT YOU, NOOOOW!!!!
Bye!

PS - just cuz I think it's kinda important to mention it, I am a guy. Just so there's no confusion. And yes, I prefer sir. Or Your Excellency works too. Whichever I prefer.
Just read the blog post. Thank you so much for the recommendation. I feel you are just as amazing a writer as readers have made me out to be. Trust me. When I read your work, I become enamored by the passion you evoke.
Oh, and about Spike's Rainbow Dash.
When I look back to the beginning chapters, I notice how rusty I was when I had first started writing it. But because I have no access to my old account, I am not given the opportunity to edit the chapters for the readers.
At least in the much later chapters my writing skills had developed enough.
And don't worry so much about the pressure, my friend. You'll do fine. i believe in you.
