H'lo. I'm DJ, which stands for Dawn Jewel, not Disc Jockey. I'm a shy introvert who pretends to be confident a lot. Shhh. I'm pretty good with poetry and songwriting. Talk to me, if you'd like.

A Poem (in emulation of Edgar Allen Pony)

Wouldst thou be loved? Then let thy taste
From its present state be tossed not—
For, caking all which now thou cakest
    With frosting, muffins frost not.
So in my eyes, thy bakéd goods
Thy cakes, thy more than muffins
Shall be the very best of foods,
And taste, a bond that toughens.

Hey, hey guys. Do you know how much I love you all?

Hey everypony! It's been what, a thousand moons since I last posted anything real? I mean, I haven't updated From The Sea, I haven't written anything new, and I haven't even given any of you a good reason for either of those things. And yet here you still are. All my follower friends, all of you, still watching, still waiting, still loyal even though I've given you no reason to be. You're

Yeek! Bit of a dropoff, there.

Sorry, I'll try to make this the last blog post before actually posting a new chapter, because I know you're all sick of reading meaningless blog posts. I'm tired of writing them. I just wanted to drop by and say hello, and that I'm back from a two-week unplugged stay in Colorado, and I'm working hard to get the next installment up as soon as possible. As always, thanks for putting up with me and

my story hasn't gotten a lot of views, but who cares? I'm not a famous writer... Heck, I'm not even a writer! You guys have all been awesome in the comments and just feedback in general. Thank you.

I'm currently at work on the next part of the epic, which will be titled... uh, somethin'. I'll figure it out. For now, you should:

Reread!
Comment if you haven't!
Thumbs up!
Favorite!
Blog about it!
Tell your friends!
Tell everyone!
Give me camels laden with apes and ivory from far-off lands beyond the sea!

I'm just kidding; the story isn't that good. But I do hope you'll read the next chapter.

Oh, and a few people think I should do a dramatic reading of it. Your thoughts?

I feel like this type of story/narrative poem would benefit a lot from a reading. I'm normally pretty sour on them, but this is an aural storytelling form translated to prose, and I think you could probably do a good job making it come alive with a recanting.

That said, I'm curious—aside from this story, do you have any plans for similar verse or poetry in the future? I'd love to read some shorter or more thematic stuff from you, if you had plans to do any.

913854 I love poetry. I really do. Now, the main problem with shorter pieces of poetry is that they're meant to be freestanding, but the site's minimum word requirement keeps me from individual publication of those pieces. I can do a compilation, I suppose. Some time in the future, I think I'd like to do a piece for fun, using a quirky, gallivanting style which I find really endearing. I do write a lot of poetry...

I'll probably post blogs that include poetry fairly often, but my best work will probably be in my published fics.

Reaction (though not necessarily rampant popularity) will probably play a part in my future poetical work. If I don't get too many thumbs-downs, I'll do another piece for sure.

Heh.

Short answer: Yeah. I'd like to do that.

I was actually thinking about this just today, re: poetry and the usual word counts. While I'm a huge fan of poetry as well, I don't know that it fits under the realm of 'fiction', as per the site moniker. That said, we've been approving it since I signed up - I was thinking I might ask knighty if there's a way to add a 'poetry' flag to let a story be submitted and hit the front page with under 1,000 words - but, maybe it would only be visible to people who had a 'poetry' flag enabled, so there'd be no worry about ousting fully composed prose from its spot on the site.

There are a number of concerns and challenges with that, however, not the least of which is getting knighty to actually do something - as is, I guess the solution is to come up with several smaller poems and submit them as a single entity. I'll let you know if I can harangue knighty into anything though.

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with when you get a chance to work on more stuff!

Most definitely, It would be most enjoyed and appreciated. I will give you my love...:fluttershysad: all my love... and you are going to LOVE ME!!!:flutterrage:

A reading would be swell.
