Checking In, Further Fan-Art, and a Funny Story · 10:19pm Feb 3rd, 2013
Greetings once again, everyone.
I had a bunch of sort of general items to cover, so here we are. First off, at the suggestion of the 24th Pegasus, I've put up a 'progress tracker' on my page. You should be able to see it over to the left of my user page, right underneath my non-existent biography.
As you can see, I've finished another chapter of Ghosts of the Past, which is currently in the pre-reading stage. I was going to have another From Stalliongrad With Love out first, but... well, I've already written this in the progress tracker.
Secondly, the incredibly awesome MrFulp drew some incredible art of Dead Reckoning.
Oh, and WARNING: SPOILERS FOR THE BEGINNING OF ACT 2 BELOW THIS POINT
Now, for my funny story about these. While I was writing the most recent chapter of Act 2, I had to stop and wonder: which one of Reckoning's wings is actually broken?
I've got a file on my computer (HonorGuard.docx, in case anyone feels like being a fantastically skilled hacker) which contains descriptions of all my OC's for this story. At first, it was just their back-stories and personality notes, but I quickly realized that I needed a means to keep track of descriptive details as well. Things like: what color are Soldier On's eyes? (Green), or which eye is Deadeye missing (Left).
What got me was that I hadn't actually updated Dead Reckoning's description for Act 2. I was about to start slogging through the end of Act 1 when a curious thought caught me: did Mr. Fulp draw the correct wing and eye. I noticed, of course, that the persepective on Reckoning had been changed to feature his wounded wing, so I went back in the story to check. Sure enough, the picture was right! So from now on, every time I refer to Reckoning's left wing, you can all thank Mr. Fulp for sparing me twenty minutes of reading my own story, trying to figure out which side of that particular pony I crippled completely.
Finally, to conclude, I wanted to show you all something I made myself, as a resource both for my own story, and for the 24th Pegasus.
Here we have my map of the Domain of Stalliongrad. To give you a visual link, the 'Dragon-Fire Bridge' connects to the Equestrian mainland near the Hayseed Swamps, south of Baltimare. With a bit more time, I'll be making another version of this map with the locations for the 24th Pegasus' "Of Snow and Shadows", and you can probably find it in our group once I'm done.
