Ideas That /Will/ Get Written, 2013 Edition · 4:20pm Feb 1st, 2013

]Touhou Umaterasu

Gensokyo: a land of fantasy, where the wonderful, mysterious, magical things of the world wind up when they are forgotten by mankind.

Equestria: a land of harmony, inhabited by colourful ponies, loved by thousands, and made alive by their spirits, yet forever unaware of them.

It is the year 2020. Technology has advanced tremendously, and so has entertainment. The brony culture which took the digital realm by storm is now but a relic as its members moved on, grew up, passed away. Equestria no longer lives in the hearts of men, and so it has only one place to go...

After the massive lurch in reality, Twilight Sparkle must find a way to reunite with her friends and restore a scattered, disorientated Equestria. She has no doubt that the power of friendship and magic will pull through. She trusts her friends, and years of maturing have given her a keen sense of wisdom to handle any situation. But then again, she hasn't met the kleptomaniac witch, the unscrupulous reporter tengu, the mind-reading satori, or a certain violent shrine maiden who doesn't take kindly to newcomers...

The Pony You Wish to See the Most

The name's Kessadris, but for a price, it can be whatever you want. That is my profession - be it your wife, your father, your mother, your son, or the unrequited love of your life, I can take their place for you. All you need to give me is a reasonable fee and a bit of your memories, and I will be the pony you wish to see the most. You needn't be ashamed; I have plenty of customers on both the low and high end, and since you're already at my doorstep, you might as well follow through.

No, the love doesn't count as payment. A changeling's gotta eat, after all.

No, the infatuation or obsession which you call "love" doesn't count as love. You try eating lint and tell me if that's nutritional.

Oh dear, did I hurt your feelings? You know what would be good? If the desire of your heart were to be here right now, to soothe you with sweet nothings.

Okay, so I told myself that I'd quietly exit ponyfic after finishing Pipsqueak and Caughlin Mare, but that Touhou crossover has to be done. Has. To. Be. Doneeee. The second is really just a brain fart: "There aren't that many stories about changelings being bad, just being pitied or adopted", which is a horrible waste because putting their powers into a dynamic play gives you all the openings to explore things like lust and obsession and identity and compromise between fantasy and reality. It's so deliciously dark. And it's good practice too! Heaven knows we all could do with practice.

By the way if you do happen to know of a fic that does "evil changeling" well, point me in its direction, wouldja? Much obliged.

Oh. I see. I thought the changeling story was going to be part of the Touohou story. An example of a non-main character finding a niche in Gensokyo. :derpytongue2:

In any case, looking forward to both.

Oh man, I keep forgetting you wrote Caughlin Mare. I would so love to see more of that. :D

That changeling fic idea sounds really good, too.
