Why oh why do I do this to myself??

Yes, I've finally added new stuff to my "Not another Twilight Alicorn story".

In saying that, it's been over a year since I last looked at this thing. So why the change of heart? Well, a couple of reasons...

... there was a brony. Who discovered a magical world called FIMFiction, full of wonderful stories and tales by hardworking writers who also came from the land of Bron. He devoured these stories endlessly, cheering when a new chapter came out for long running epics, and chuckling maniacally at faster funny one-offs and crying appropriately at heart-tugging short stories. They inspired him, so much so that he decided to start a story of his own.

And so he did. The "Not Another Twilight Alicorn Story".

He suspected he had a good hook for this story: there were a handful of really good Twilight/Alicorn stories, and another bunch (for random values of bunch) of also-rans, and the potential for having fun inverting what seemed to be becoming a trope or a meme or whatever it is when these things take on a life of their own. He wrote the first chapter and a whole lotta scattered stuff in one sitting, used quite a bit of the lotta scattered stuff in the next sitting, and looked at the rest of the lotta scattered stuff some time later and thought "Yeah, there's enough to work with here to at least finish up a four, five chapter story. Not too bad for your first parody story work in over a decade."

But then, as he read and commented on other stories, he noticed something. MANY new stories were being written about Twilight as an Alicorn. One of his favourites, "The Quiet Place", was getting a complete rewrite and he wasn't sure how he felt about that (in the end it was still good so he kept at it, but still... WHY? OH WHYYYYYYY etc etc ad nauseum). In the end, he kept looking at the lonely folder on his computer desktop containing his remaining lotta scattered stuff, and couldn't really muster up the enthusiasm to get into it once more. The more new stories that came up, the more this absence-of-decisiveness seemed to reinforce the lack of action.

And then, just as our layabout of a wannabe brony writer confirmed in his mind that anything he could possibly bring to the subject had already been covered, the Hub, glorious purveyor of animated equines and the initial powers influencing the small world of Bron, let slip that the cartoon version of Twilight would actually, genuinely, become an alicorn (or at least a 'princess pony') in the show.

"All right, punks" he huffed to himself, "... all bets are OFF."
