    The Most Dangerous Game

So I guess I missed out on EqD's latest big writing contest, The Most Dangerous Game. I mean, technically there's two days left to submit, but I only just found out about it. Shame, too, because I have kind of a cool idea--just not one I think I can get done within the time left to me. Ah well. Maybe

"An Outsider's Perspective" Featured at the Royal Canterlot Library!

Hey, you know that announcement I've been talking about? This would be it. I'm thrilled and honored to say that the guys over at the Royal Canterlot Library enjoyed "An Outsider's Perspective" so much that they decided to feature it, along with an interview of me. And man, I'm not going to lie, I'm kind

    Hey, so, Flutterspy!

Guess what story I just finished after more than two years of writer's block?

No, not Prince of Ponyville. Probably never Prince of Ponyville.

Nope, it's a story that I feel holds up a lot better, and really deserved an ending: "Flutterspy!"

I'm late to the party, here, but Rainbow Rocks...

I just finished watching Rainbow Rocks, and I have to write down my immediate reaction.

That reaction is: I just watched Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny's kid sister movie. It was freaking amazing.

Cartoon Network seems to be canceling Young Justice.

I'm... just gonna leave that there. Because I don't think I can capture the volume of my outrage with mere words. Suffice it to say, I am displeased.

And, of course, it's worth noting that a lot of the folks from The Spectacular Spider-Man--another absolutely fantastic show that excelled at taking some of the mythos' cheesier aspects and revamping them into something awesome, all while telling compelling stories with interesting and likable characters, which was also abruptly cancelled after two seasons--were involved in making YJ. And that some of the folks who made both shows also made Gargoyles back in the 90's, and if you haven't seen Gargoyles, you should rectify that post haste.

Anyway. Two brilliant superhero shows, made by largely the same people, both cancelled with little fanfare after two critically-acclaimed seasons to be replaced by crappier versions of themselves: Ultimate Spider-Man in Spectacular's case, and Teen Titans GO! and Yet Another Freaking Batman Cartoon in YJ's. This is a disturbing pattern. Those responsible must be stopped.

Oh, but in case you were worried, MAD and Annoying Orange got renewed. So at least we have categorical proof that God hates us.

... Okay, changing the topic.

"Just For Sidekicks" was awesome. Best episode of the season, in my opinion, and an immediate entrant into my Top Ten. I loved the interplay between the pets and between Spike and Angel (and, arriving two years late to the party, I realized afterwards that Spike and Angel were arch nemeses/frenemies). I was also pleasantly surprised to see that it wasn't just the pets that were getting in on the fun, but all of the secondary characters, including the Cutie Mark Crusaders and Zecora. It was funny as hell, had some great animation--which, given that most of the episode's cast couldn't speak, was vital to making it work--and even served as a nice prequel to the season finale. Just a great episode.

There was also one odd thing that I noticed, though it's entirely possible that I'm just crazy: were the Mane Six taller? For some reason, they just looked the tiniest bit different. I think it was their legs, assuming I'm not imagining things. Just a wee bit, marginally longer. Then again, maybe they just moved the camera down a bit for the episode, since it was sort of a short character POV story.

Anyway. Whew. Talking about "Just For Sidekicks" was a bit of a pallet cleanser. Huh, funny, though... Young Justice is kind of a show about sidekicks, and...

NO! No, bad Kavonde. Focus elsewhere.

Here, have a video. It's from FiMFlamFilosophy's "Rainbow Dash Presents" series. Sadly, it seems that Hasbro--or someone "representing" Hasbro--has gotten all of the Mentally Advanced Series episodes taken down, despite them being clearly under the protection of the Fair Use laws. You know, this kind of flagrant disregard for the actual protections afforded to creators by copyright law...

Agh. Anger bad. Resist.

Here, have a version of My Little Dashie that actually manages to be even more depressing than the original.

WHAT?! Furze, they did it AGAIN? Why??? Awww...can't they at least leave it at a good ending?
Fahne...be that way, Cartoon Network. Be that way.

Um, material is never protected under Fair Use unless and until a court rules it is. That's copyright law. The default setting, if you will, is "not protected."

WHAT, YOUNG JUSTICE IS GETTING CANCELLED!?! They just got Deathstroke (aka Slade from Teen Titans) in the show! My bet is that they want to cancel the show in favor of something that's more...marketable in the merchandise department. I'm looking at you 'Ultimate Spider-man', don't think that I didn't notice that the super-secret-agent Webslinger gadget and the Spidey-Bike is meant to sell merchandise, if not take you audience seriously with terrible breaking 4-wall jokes (That's Deadpool turf) and as well as childish dialogue. Man, I hope Green Lantern won't suffered the similar fate or it will be all too soon.

Anyhow, I'm surprised that with all the unaltered episodes of mlp that floods Youtube, that Hasbro rather choose to remove Mentally Advanced Series episodes, or if it is Hasbro themselves, it won't be the first time that fan videos are taken down from the web sites. My bets are that it is trolls taking the disguise as a Hasbro representative to take down the videos to cause grief, since there are similar incidents that other videos had suffered not related to MLP. For why else would Hasbro want to take down fan content if the said videos keeps their franchise alive (after all it is a viral sensation on the internet).

Not the Mentally Advanced Series!!! :raritydespair:
I'm seriously going to go cry now

Yeah, neither of those shows were ever one while I was watching TV, so I can see how this would happen. I don't know why they don't bring back a daily after school block of super hero action shows. That's the only way they're ever going to make any money off them.

WHAT!? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

SERIOUSLY?!?! I FUCKING LOVE THE MENTALLY ADVANCED SERIES! FUCK!

They're still making more of them, but apparently they'll be hosting them on a different video service and then posting them on their own page, DawnSomewhere.com. So it's not a complete tragedy.

Which is a stupid way to do it. TMAS clearly isn't violating the terms of Fair Use, and any case against it would be laughed out of court. But since its creators aren't a multi-million dollar company, they can't really afford to take it to court against an organization that is, and that is horribly unjust.

I realize you probably don't disagree, I was just venting my general frustration.

764787 Oh, that's good to hear. Thanks! :yay:
