Coming Soon: A Plethora of New Stories

I've been inactive on my story for a while. The inspiration bug just hasn't bit on it lately, and I have numerous editing jobs. For the former, I'm very, very sorry. I'm getting back to it soon. But, the more I write, the more I'll come up with, right?

    "A Perfect Gift" by Ryanchopper12

I recently edited for a creative little story, "A Perfect Gift," for Ryanchopper 12, an aspiring author who isn't bad at writing a story. Giving that oneshot a read just might make your day with its innocent, sweet, My Little Dashie-esque idea with a hue of Hearth's Warming. Here it is.

Coming Soon: A Plethora of New Stories · 5:27am Jan 20th, 2013

I've been inactive on my story for a while. The inspiration bug just hasn't bit on it lately, and I have numerous editing jobs. For the former, I'm very, very sorry. I'm getting back to it soon. But, the more I write, the more I'll come up with, right?

When you're young, you have an explosive imagination. Using it, I have come up with many, many story ideas that have never been heard of before. All of them will be one-shots starring some side characters or a certain pair of mysterious Cutie Mark Crusaders.

Now, the question begs to be answered: what should I do first? You guys choose to follow me, so I think that it'd be fair if I shared three with you and if anypony figured they wanted one more than another. If nopony responds, then I'll ask somepony else at one of my groups. Official titles are coming soon.

1. The Mayor's Apprentice [Slice of Life]
Mayor Mare tries to cheer up a distraught Twist, who was recently told off for being irresponsible.
[Everypony] Starring Twist and Mayor Mare.

2. Cheerilee's Guide to Pet-Sitting [Slice of Life][Possible Comedy]
Rarity enlists Cheerilee to take care of Opalescence while she takes a much-needed vacation. (Could become multi-part.)
[Everypony] Starring Cheerilee and Opalescence.

3. Bully to Buddy: Scootaloo's Story [Slice of Life]
Scootaloo has always been a determined bully alongside her friends, Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon. When a new unicorn in class tries to befriend them no matter how mean they may be, Scootaloo questions her loyalty to her friends.
[Everypony] Starring Scootaloo, Sweetie Belle, Diamond Tiara, and Silver Spoon.

In all honesty, the second one sounds very promising [not to say the others don't, but that sticks out more to me than the others]
Which ever you choose, I will look forward to reading it! :derpytongue2:

(Seriously, thanks!)

My personal order of preference would be in exactly the order you posted, actually.

1. Twist doesn't get nearly enough attention. Apple Bloom seems to have totally neglected her as a friend ever since she got her cutie mark in "Call of the Cutie". And ever since hearing Amy Keeting Rogers original version of Smile, Smile, Smile, I've had her mother as being named "Shimmy Shake" in my head canon. Twist acting as the mayors assistant sounds like it'd be rather fun to read. :twistnerd:

2. This has potential. I have to wonder why Cheerilee is the one taking in Opal, though, since Fluttershy would be the natural one to go to. And I could also see her leaving Opal with her parents and Sweetie Belle. (Which would be likely to end up as a comedy in its own rights.) Also, is school out of session? Also, does Cheerilee have any pets? A fish tank, maybe?

3. I don't know. I just have trouble seeing Scootaloo hanging out with Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon. Especially since Diamond Tiara seemed to be clueless about why she would defend Apple Bloom in "Call of the Cutie". One would think if they had a previous history, she'd have realized that Scootaloo didn't have a cutie mark, at least. Though Scootaloo did seem rather annoyed with her for some reason. Of course, I'm biased. I obviously have my own version of how Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle met. :scootangel:

Whoa! Thanks for your feedback!
1: Thank you very much for the praise! Twist must've found new friends, being the generous pony she is, but everypony has a sad day now and again. :pinkiesick:
2: All will be explained in time. But, with Cheerilee being the confident mare she is, what could possibly go wrong? :pinkiesad2:
3: The way we act when we're really, really young. Not everypony has Tracy Flash/Shutterfly's photographic memory. And your headcanon is awesome. I don't have one yet! :pinkiegasp:

1. Yeah, and I bet some of the people the Mayor has to deal with during the day will end up forgetting what they are upset about when trying to explain it to Twist. And end up going home with peppermint candy. :pinkiehappy:

2. *swipe* *chunk of Cheerilee's mane falls off*

3. Eh, possible. Given that I thought BBBFF was describing my own childhood till it got to the parts about Shining Armor, my memories of being Scootaloo's age might not be that useful when it comes to social interaction, anyways.

And to be honest, since I started working on multiple fanfics, I've started developing multiple personal mlp universes in my head, depending on the fanfic. Making Friends is one of them, but I've got another universe where Scootaloo's parents are OC's named Escallion and Ruby Sunshine, and Vinyl Scratch is her aunt. Of course, given that her parents are dead in that universe, and she's in a coma, not exactly the happiest of universes.

And in another universe, her parents went out into the sea in Innsmare and never came back. Hurray for Lovecraft crossovers. Actually, one of the things I like about Scootaloo is that it's fun to write backstories about her...

1. "Want 'thome 'thweets?" :twistnerd:
2. "I know all about cats. I'll be just fine." :duck:
3. Well, you still pulled out a good story about it out.

No headcanon? I can deal with that. But the universe is awesome, let me tell you.

And I guess that I've touched on that before in my practice exercises, but never far enough to go beyond the occasional background-pony-friendship. I've yet to read an OC story, but I'm fine with any canon character being Scootaloo's family. Cheerilee, Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Pinkie Pie, Twilight, Applejack, Chocolate Sun, Princess Celestia...

Thanks. And it's more that I don't have a *solid* headcanon for Scootaloo. Generally my headcanon is sort of whichever universe I'm spending the most time writing in at the time. :scootangel:

I'm starting to know a fair bit of background for the Making Time universe at this point, since I'm spending a good deal of time thinking about it for the sequel. So I end up knowing how Ditzy ended up with Dinky and Sparkler, and such. And all about how the accidental magic worked, what the effects of magical exhaustion are and so on, of course. And Scootaloo is a lot of fun to write on that universe when she's on her own. I put up a small part of chapter 4 of the sequel in this blog post, btw.

I do kinda like the "Scootaloo lives with her auntie Vinyl Scratch" approach. Or the approach one fanfic took, where Scootaloo is indeed an orphan, but everyone in Ponyville knows it, and is willing to take her in for the night. So she just picks at random who to stay with for the night each day...

I end up with way too many ideas to confine them to one universe, though. Scootaloo being homeless and orphaned, and Luna discovering that through exploring her dreams and adopting her. Or Scootaloo accidentally sleeping in the Tardis, and ending up on an adventure with Dr. Whooves. Or my "Friendship is Wubs" universe, with Vinyl Scratch as the "Element of Wubs". Let's just say an explosive imagination doesn't always go away when you get older...

Scootaloo has so many possibilities. And even more beyond that! Like the Orphan City, a group of a. secret agents b. foals trying to place foals into homes c. keeping the orphans in one piece. Then dissect those. Then dissect those pieces. And BAM! The possibilities are, like, endless!

I know what you mean. At one point, it occurred to me that Ray Bradbury's "Hail and Farewell", from "'S' Is For Space", would actually be a great backstory for Scootaloo. I didn't write it because anything I could write on it would be highly derivative, and would pale in comparison to his writing...

Precisely what I'm saying. :pinkiehappy:
