So you may have noticed my name change. Well, it was not done because I strictly wanted to. No, that would have been too easy. No, as you might recall, there was a message claiming that all users should probably consider changing their passwords because some prick said he totally had the base code in which the passwords are stored in(for those who don't really understand that, that means the guy said he technically had the passwords, but he didn't have the code to crack them. Basically he claimed that had a big document full of a jumbled mess of data). Anyway, shortly following this, I attempted to change my password.
I failed.
I kept getting this 'username already in use' error. Well, yes, thank you FiMFiction, I know that username is already in use. I'm using it. Quite like to keep it. Well, that went on for awhile, I was just passing by it a couple times every week to see if the condition would change. Definition of insanity and whatnot. Well, instead of reporting the issue, I decided to change up my strategy, so I went with my common title I ask people to call me, Hyde.
Well, apparently no one on FiMFic thought to use Hyde yet as a username. And thus my password and my username changed. And now I can't change back. You know why?
Someone, in the middle of December, created an account named HiddenBrony. While I was already a user here on FimFic. So for about a month, there were TWO HiddenBrony's on the site.
How that works I'll never know. I just know that some empty account is sitting with my old username and has been for a month now(I changed my username to Hyde about a week ago).
So um. Yeah. That happened. I'd get knighty to fix it but I can't bring myself to care much outside of the fact that someone is walking around with my name and that might confuse people. Personally I like the name Hyde more. It's just not the best decision. Ah well.
More fic soon, I'm just settling down into another semester of college mixed with work.
Huh. I would say that the 'username already in use' error was because of the other HiddenBrony, but I guess the times don't match up for that.
No username already in use error for new users, or so it seems then.
if you don't want him to fix it, I will. It's a serious issue.

Also, pretty bizarre case with your former name you've got there. You should definitely ask knighty to look into this. If not for yourself, then just so that maybe the admins can discover some nasty bug in their programming and prevent such cases in the future. There's nothing worse than a known bug that doesn't get fixed.
Wow... that's pretty weird. Thank god no one ever seems to use my username (except that one Chinese chick on Twitter).
