    Iron, Cold Iron

Gold is for the mistress — silver for the maid —
Copper for the craftsman cunning at his trade.
"Good!" said the Baron, sitting in his hall,
"But Iron — Cold Iron — is master of them all."
    — Rudyard Kipling, "Cold Iron."

We've decided something at Team Jericho.
No matter what happens, we are going to release chapter 40 of Jericho at this time.
We'll make sure it's as clean and spiffy as we can make it, but it's at this date and time that it's going live, whether we like it or not.
    So... yeah.
    Cheers?

United States/Canadian Eastern Standard time, that is.

The Chapter of Jericho, Nemawashi, is Out! · 5:16pm Dec 29th, 2012

Hey, kids! Are you hungry‽ Did you just eat a shoe‽ Well, then come on down to–
Get that thing outta here.

*Clears Throat* The NEW chapter of Jericho is out! Chapter 6 – Nemawashi! Now packed with all your favorite Jericho action:

Psychopathic tendencies!

Rainbow Dash!

The plot – “Trouble on the Frontier” and “Steel Leviathan”.

A certain hominid wearing a trenchcoat!

Lyra and Bonbon!

The Machine Spirit!

Exposition on how the Perditians view cutie marks!

The word “nein”.

So come on down and give her a good read, folks! She's utterly changed, utterly beautiful, and utterly insane! Read her, critique her, and comment on her, and give me some feedback, that I might make future chapters all the better for it.

Also, thank the Machine Spirit for The Lord Siffer (I now know who he is, though my mental image of him is that of a Viking kitty). He read the whole of the original Jericho in *only* two weeks – and did so without an account. Then he assisted me with finding typos and other errors, thus making this story 120% better. Now – and only now – he has a Fimfic account. Thanks, Milord, for helping me get rid of any and all errors in chapter “Nemawashi”. As well, he expressed an interest in helping me out with further chapters. So, dear readers, give a round of thanks to The Lord Siffer, the newest edition to the team bringing you Jericho!

Now that you mention it, has "nein" ever made an appearance in Jericho. Before reading it was pretty much the only German word I knew (despite being of German decent).

Um... I don't know, but now it is. At least thrice! Also, you said "before reading", does that mean you've learned a few more words since reading?

A bit. A few individual words and phrases like "prinzessin," "krebs hengst" (that was cancer stallion if I'm not mistaken?), "Ich hasse dich...." OH! And I've started to abuse the phrase "Bückstabü frau," when disregarding a friend of mine because it drives her nuts.

In total: Not enough for me to hold a full conversation in German. Although it has given me intrest in taking a foreign class.

668969
Keen! That was sort of a background point of Jericho, that languages are cool. Do take care with the word "Bückstabü", since the context I first (and the only place where) I heard it, the phrase meant "whatever you have, I take". And is your friend German?

668985
Nope. But she speaks a wee bit of it. Which is why my usage of "Bückstabü" aggravates her. Since its technically more a slang than an actual word. At least I think it is.

669012
It is more slang than a proper word. If she had been German, I was going to caution you against referring to her as "meine Frau", because (exactly the same as the Spanish Mi Mujer, my woman) in German indicating possession over a woman would be the same as calling her your wife, and that could also be annoying her. Bückstabü, near as I can tell, is a corruption of the word der Buchstabe, meaning letter (of the alphabet). Now then, take care to be saying thine umlaut (in this case, an ü) correctly, and also brush your teeth. I've gotta get to working on the conversation our narrator has with his guardian angel; work out a Doctor Who-inspired meeting between the narrator and Lightning Dust; and 'fore any of that, find every last error in Jericho and put this story on the EQD.

669033
Lookin' forward to it! And again, I gotta say, I admire your tenacity. I hear of a lot (Not all!) of people being rejected and instantly hating EquestriaDaily. I've never seen anyone quite so hard at it as much as you. Also, thanks for quick lesson in German. The last thing I wanna do is anger her too much. Hell hath no fury...

Anyway! Good luck, good sir in your quest to appear on EQD.

669050
Well, hopefully it'll all pay off in the end – both with a far better Jericho and with a post on the EQD. I've been compulsively looking through each chapter, finding any way to improve the prose or get rid of extraneous things. Though I won't probably won't be adding new chapters of Jericho till after I achieve my lofty impossible skyward ambitious goal, just so that they won't have to dig through too much. As a result on a more renewed focus of quality, though, new chapters will likely be far more spaced out.
If you want to a learn a language (German, in this case), then I commend you. Heck, I taught myself German in about 6 months just so that I could better write Jericho; it's now become a little hobby of mine, learning languages. But, rest assured, as Jericho goes on, they'll be more German Prussian to teach, and through that will I explore the topic of culture.
