Breezespeech
Breezespeech is the language spoken by the Breezies. Due to how little time they spend in Equus and the vast differences between species, no pony scholar has ever been able to learn more than a few words in the language. Breezespeech is known by the Breezies as Brízkö`í.
Pronunciation
In Breezespeech, hardly any pause is taken between syllables of a word, and barely more between words themselves, making it difficult to accurately document the language and break dialogues down into discrete parts. Changes in intonation have great meaning in Breezespeech, and can change the meaning of a word dramatically, so representations of the language in pony characters use accents [ ´ ] and graves [ ` ] to denote this. Notation also relies upon vowels and compound vowels to have uniform meaning. To differentiate between compound vowels and vowels pronounced in succession, an umlaut [ ¨ ] is added to a vowel to denote a break in pronunciation. Breezespeech is, in general, pronounced at a much higher register than most pony speech.
General Rules
A vowel with an accent [ ´ ] over it is pronounced with rising intonation. When this is applied to a compound vowel, it is added to both letters.
A vowel with a grave [ ` ] over it is pronounced with falling intonation. When this is applied to a compound vowel, it is added to both letters.
A letter with an umlaut [ ¨ ] over it is pronounced separately from the succeeding letter. When this is applied to a compound vowel, it is added only to the second letter of the compound vowel.
A grave [ ` ] not over a letter denotes that the preceding and succeeding sounds are pronounced in quick succession, often accompanied by a squeak.
