I’m Making A Story Based Around Comet!! · 7:27am Nov 25th, 2023
Ah, it feels so good to have that old creative spark back. When I said that Chapter 6 inspired me, I meant it. So now that the Misty Saga is over, I’m planning a fresh wave of standalone stories. Most of these will probably be one-shots, but a couple might be lengthy narratives. It really depends. With writing for Izzy Moonbow: Beyond The Multiverse of Randomness not slated to begin until mid January, I have some time on my hooves to really dig in and expose the fresh mountain of gold hiding underneath this masterpiece of a Chapter. So what do I write as part of my next slate, my first genuine standalone story in like a year? Why write a story about the best character in Secrets of Starlight, of course!
Yes, you heard me right. Comet is getting a story. Seeing as how no one has done that yet, now’s my chance to really make something unique and blaze a trail in the Fimfiction algorithm once again as I did with Worthless so long ago. It’ll be a short one with only one chapter. With Redeemed being this giant behemoth of a story, I feel like I’m owed some shorter, smaller-scale projects in the meantime between that and the final installment in the G5 Universe. The story will be called A Passing Comet and will focus on Comet getting advice from Izzy about what to do with the new life he’s been given in Equestria. I won’t spoil anything else about it, but know that it will be coming within a few days period.
I’ll probably get it done tonight or something, but I’m aware that some of you dedicated fans have not yet finished Redeemed yet and have not yet posted your concluding thoughts on the Saga. So out of respect for your time, I’m going to delay the release of Comet’s story until at least Monday. Then it’s on to the new era for me! I’m so excited, let’s goooooooooooo!!
Also, should I do a Spike story as well? I got an idea for it, but it’s up to you guys. Whatever the case is, I’ll be seeing you guys pretty soon. Bye!!!!!
That should be interesting. There is definitely potential with the dynamic between Comet and Izzy. You're doing it way before the show is gonna. You're a real trailblazer. Pun intended. And here I am dressing up the Mane 6 as the Justice League, writing a novelisation of Mortal Kombat on my old fanfiction net account and thinking about writing a story about the Mane 6 going forward in time to accompany the Mane 5 through the events of A New Generation because I'm horribly uncreative.
I could have swore I saw some sort of romantic relationship building between them! That should be really interesting!

Either that or MistyxComet? Mistet? Could that work, considering their personalities and/or their places as newer characters? What about the others? Gotta ship em with everypony!

Oh, yeah, there were definitely some shipping vibes around those two. Glad I'm not the only one who noticed it. As for their name, I think Comizzy rolls off the tongue quite smoothly.

My idea for it would be centered around him and Sunny talking about their experiences and getting to know each other as I could see some genuine chemistry between them throughout Chapter 6.

Ugh, feeling bummed out after hearing Dr Wolf's review of Chapter 6 and immersing in the comments there. Now while it's a stretch to consider him a hater of it too or anything, I must say, what did he expect from the show? And what did everyone else expect from it? After this ending that "restored your faith in the franchise", why are people still hating on it? How could they still see it like they have? Where did their mindsets come from? Also, how's your defense videos coming along? The longer they're delayed, the more time former fans' darkening opinions have to fester and to dig themselves into a deep pit.
(Also, I consider Spike's redesign, and that of all the dragons really, to have no real consequence to the quality of the story or worldbuilding, whether or not there is an in-universe reason. Same with the other small flaws of the gen, or what they consider "flaws" for some reason. Also also, of course Spike had relevance as the leader, having clout in getting the dragons on the Ponies' side, ambassadoring with Sunny, it being an interesting evolution of his character arc from G4, etc. Why do they ignore all that and then say there was no reason or point? Bottomless pits much? Stop spitting on me and telling me it's raining.)
And even if I admitted the ending to be "unconventional", what does it matter? What did you expect? This MYM series is only a piece of the ongoing story of G5, and story series have done these things all the time, things like cliffhangers and open windows to future installments.
And what does it matter if the story structure of G5 is a bit messy and not as good as it could have been? At least it's still fun, a fun ride, I get to think about stuff in it, the characters are great, etc.
And most importantly, what is it about the story that makes it not click with people? Does it have to be upfront bombastic and in-your-face like it was with the g4 story moments? Does it have to have a solid story structure and know how to communicate its points to its audience? Maybe that's what a good, impactful story does? 😕

Well, after 9 years of a cartoon that became so unexpectedly popular outside its target audience that it had its own fanfiction website created, I think people are still very biased.
It doesn’t matter how unexpectedly good G5 is, they will still call it massive letdown because they can’t let go of G4. Of course, we know better.
