I mean, with a title like that, what more is there to say?
Okay, that’s unfair. Obviously a lot. But the core statement above is true: Axtara – Magic and Mayhem is now in Alpha. Everyone’s favorite dragoness banker is back for another cozy adventure, and is still aiming for a pre-Christmas release!
So, what’s the progress then? Because it’s more than just “Axtara – Magic and Mayhem is in Alpha.” The first emails regarding potential covers are slipping out. First-time Alpha Readers going into a trial period will get their links to the opening chapters today. The last few chapters of the book will be added to the Alpha Chapter List today and tomorrow. Alpha Readers have already begun hitting the opening chapters of the story, which means that by next week I may start being able to go over their feedback.
The opening, I’ll note, is clearly in need of another pass. Which doesn’t surprise me. Opening a sequel is always tricky, as you have to provide enough information about what happened in the prior book for a new audience uninterested in starting there to be able to engage with the sequel, but not enough that you bore the returning audience. The current opening paragraphs are the second (or maybe third?) attempt at threading that fine line. So I’m not surprised that it’s not quite there yet. This is what Alpha’s are for! Among other things.
