This is my second favorite episode of season six, as it's somewhat random, but the writing is really clever in what it tries to achieve. I think that it helps tie in an overarching plot of Rarity branching her bouquets across Equestria. So this episode is a sequel to "The Gift of the Maud Pie," where Rarity has found a place to rent out for her next boutique. All her friends chip in to help her renovate the building, but a few "issues" get in the way. The best part of the episode is interesting as the mares are doing separate interviews with the Manehattan columnist Buried Lede.
First, we get introduced to "Mr. Stripes, who is "definitely not working for the mafia." and forces Rarity to have his daughter, Plaid Stripes, work with her. Then they find raccoons in the building, and Vinyl Scratch runs a club upstairs.
So the group now has to deal with each of these problems while trying to renovate the building itself, and the funniest part is that as Rarity's friends try to fix everything, it gets out of hand, and they end up locking her in the window display, to buy time. Then, they solve most of the problems by the end, renovating the building, hiring workers, having the raccoons serve guests, and using Vinyl to help throw a party Plaid Stripes, with her spoon clothes, even become important. The craziest thing about this episode was that this was very random, yet every aspect of it was utilized to its full potential; it was laden with easter eggs and had great humor. I think it's one of those episodes where I didn't expect much and just enjoyed watching it the entire time. With an added bonus of expanding on Rarity's efforts to branch out her business.
Random Thought:
One of the clones, Pinkie Pies, had escaped, which was a great nod when Rarity mentioned cloning herself.
The part where Fluttershy tells the Raccoons they have to leave, and their reaction is one of the funniest moments in the series for me. I can't stop laughing and imagine what they said in raccoon.
At the very beginning of the episode, there's a Pulp Fiction reference.
It's also the first and only appearance of Pacific Glow!
