Maybe don’t read this if you have a fear of bugs.

So I was having a rough time not so long ago. About three weeks at this point. And now I’m wishing that’s all there was to worry about.

Around three days ago I heard a squeaky sound near my vent. This was hours after encountering a rather large bug in my kitchen, one that mysteriously disappeared not long after the sighting. I thought it was some sort of animal so I slept on the couch that night.

The squeaking has not stopped.

At first I thought it could be withdrawel, so I took my pills and it was still present. Then I considered the possibility of termites. We absolutely have not had anyone over for inspection in years. And my parents have admitted that they have not looked in the attic in years.

So I did some investigating myself. I found a nice entry point or two in the garage. One on the ground and one that is super high up. I found a bug identical to the kitchen guest in my bedroom window sill.

So I can absolutely conclude that there is likely a colony of something in the attic. I have not slept in multiple days.

Now, typically, this would not be my problem to deal with. But because I have this cute thing called mental illness I had a lot of wrappers and crumbs left over in my room. Now, it’s not like I leave bowls of oatmeal just on my dresser. It is just wrappers. Not to mention I got super sick multiple times in the last 6 months, one of them being in late May.

When you’re facing the possibility of being removed from the school musical because you drank some bad apple juice before prom, you kind of have other things on your mind at that point.

But because I eat food in my room, it’s entirely my fault if there’s any sort of infestation going on. Despite the fact that my mom also eats in her room and the cleanliness standards in there are way more woeful than in my room.

Don’t believe me? I’ve lived in the same house my whole life and I learned this year that the glass stand my mom keeps her perfume on is, in fact, glass.

And as homeowners I’d say getting your home inspected regularly is actually your responsibility. People say that I never take accountability but it’d be a lot easier to do that if I wasn’t blamed for literally anything that goes wrong. I should have vacuumed more often and I’ll fully admit to that. But the idea that they’re going to make me front the financial burden of this situation is not one I’m fond of.
