Starlight is better written than Tempest in my opinion

I’m not going to make a lot of friends with this, but I think Starlight is a lot better written than Tempest is and I know it sounds unfair to compare a character who’s been around for four seasons to someone who made one movie appearance but since there is some debate out there with Tempest being seen as better written, I have no choice but to believe this is something that can be compared.

Animated Atrocities #5: All Bottled Up

I’ve been meaning to cover a StarTrix episode for quite some time now to show why I can’t ship them. I just couldn’t find a good stinker. Road To Friendship and Student Counsel were good episodes, To Change A Changeling was mainly focusing on four leads, and so it came down to this or Horse Shoe In, and ultimately this one was worse.

I know people love this episode, but this is going to be a major unpopular opinion because I really don’t like it that much. And it all boils down to one simple factor, Duncan is a majorly unsympathetic prick and he’s the leading role today. Oh what joy./s

So let’s begin the episode shall we?

    Animated Atrocities #1: A Matter Of Principals(MLP:FIM)

I noticed a certain trend in seasons eight and nine with Starlight in MLP. It’s not as bad as something like SpongeBob where they torment Squidward or the arbitrary ways the fairies lose their wands in the Fairly OddParents but it’s still a concern to me. Today, we’re going to go over the catalyst of this trend. A Matter Of Principals.

Animated Atrocities #2: Timmy’s Secret Wish(Fairly OddParents)

So, Today we're going to be covering one of The Fairly Oddparents worst episodes. Timmy's Secret Wish. This episode is an hour long special based on the mysteries and lore of how Timmy fucked up majorly. No, I’m not kidding, that’s what happens.

The episode begins with Timmy making various in attempt to get to his millionth wish, including a gag where a crowd cheers for him no matter what he does, trust me that will get VERY annoying if you watch it. Once he gets to one million Jorgen shows up and tells him no one has ever made a million wishes before and to celebrate this achievement they almost rip off the theme song before playing a cheesy pump up song. Sorry, am I supposed to be invested by this. Nickelodeon can make good songs, I’ve seen it in SpongeBob, Loud House, AND this show but this Million Wishes song is VERY bland and uninspired. I guess I did like the part where they sang about how Timmy and his fairies mean a lot to each other though.

After the song ends we cut to Fairy World where there's a parade being put on with a float for each of Timmy's wishes. It turns out quite a few of them are actually pretty terrible even one where he wished for Dimmsdale to be put on fire, I’d honestly be madder if Timmy didn’t seem embarrassed or remorseful by it but he is so I’m inclined to be a little forgiving, FOR NOW. After that, it is revealed that Timmy is to be put on trial for being the worst godkid after the fairy council reviews his wishes. If Timmy fails this court case, he will lose every wish he ever had, it will be as if he never had fairies.

When we get to the court scene, it’s clear the Fairy Council wants him to lose and rigged this trial against him. Why, you may ask? They assigned him with COSMO as his lawyer. Quick reminder, what season are we on?

*Season 8*

Sigh… at least it’s not season ten.

Cosmo is unsurprisingly an incredibly incompetent lawyer, but things only get worse when it is revealed Foop was assigned to be the prosecutor. Foop is doing this because he wants Poof gone, not realizing that this will mean he will be erased as well.

Now here’s the thing, I can buy Foop not knowing this is a possibility since this is a trial for Timmy’s wishes to be erased, he is not a wish Timmy made, therefore he would probably not think that he qualifies. It’s not even until the end of the trial, anyone points this out to him so why didn’t they?

So, it's not unreasonable Foop wouldn't realize he's subject to being erased, especially since he's still a child. It's just a bit foolish in hindsight. Anyways, Cosmo seemed to be under the impression had to prove Timmy was the worst god child for some forsaken reason and prepared evidence for that. Something Foop happily uses although I don’t think he needed that since he played clips for the case against Timmy but I digress. The first piece of evidence is that Timmy apparently caused global warming.

Honestly, I’ll give Timmy some leeway as how it went wrong was an unseen side effect but then there’s that he made it rain rabid dingoes because he was bored. It’s really bad when I’m agreeing with the VILLAIN about Timmy being a terrible godchild. He’s far from the worst, the Hall Of Infamy exists after all, but he is not far off because I'm sure that wish led to many people being hospitalized.

Timmy also did various other dumb things like creating athletes' foot because he thought it would make him better at soccer and wishing for everyone to have a bee stinger for some reason. After that Foop rests his case, now what was Cosmo's defense? Well, since the writers thought he wasn't dumb enough, he just decided to take a nap instead of actually trying to save Timmy.

Hey guys, I know Cosmo is stupid and all but I’m pretty sure he’d actually try to save Timmy if he felt he was going to lose him and Poof, and yes, this is canon since he did so in Abra-Catastrophe to save Wanda.

So, because of Cosmo's new inability to actually try and help Timmy, Wanda steps up to defend Timmy instead. At least Timmy has someone helpful on his side. Wanda starts by calling the Crimson Chin to testify on Timmy's behalf. He says some very positive things about Timmy, until Foop gets him to admit that Timmy has done more harm than good.

After that, Mark Chang is next and he says that Timmy’s been a good friend to him and because Foop can’t find much to say about him that’s bad, he just resorts to using Yugopotamian logistics to mess with Mark. I’d call that sloppy but that was probably intentional.

Next up is Dark Laser, who says he's alive thanks to Timmy. Foop then spins this around by pointing out that Dark Laser has enslaved hundreds of planets and that none of that would've happened if Timmy hadn't wished for him to exist. Unfortunately, none of the witnesses for Timmy were actually able to demonstrate that Timmy is a good God child.

So when it seems like Timmy is doomed to lose his fairies and wishes, Poof speaks up for him reminding the Council of the good deeds he did for his parents and then the part where he brought Poof into existence to make him, Cosmo, and Wanda a family.

The fairy council is moved by this and almost declares Timmy not the worst god child, but just as they are about to make their ruling, Foop finds new evidence. Evidence so damning that it completely changes the fairy council's decision. It turns out Timmy had made a secret wish, which is the ultimate violation of fairy law.

Animated Atrocities #2: Timmy’s Secret Wish Part 2(Fairly OddParents)

So apparently Timmy made a secret wish, I’m sure it can’t be that bad right? Almost all of Timmy’s wishes can be fixed somehow, so this should be no different, right? RIGHT?!

Well, it turns out Timmy wished time would stop moving forward and that Cosmo would forget he granted this wish. When pressed how long its been since he made the wish, he says it's been 50 years. That's right, time has been frozen for 50 years.

Look, I get that they wanted to explain why Timmy never aged for the entire series but we really didn’t need this explanation. SpongeBob’s been on for years and is still going, no one questioned that so we’re not going to do it here. But no, we need to absolutely decimate the moral of Channel Chasers which I am positive that somewhere after that episode is where Timmy made the wish. He definitely did it after Poof was born though so that’s something to note.

So, after Timmy's secret wish is revealed the council rules he's the worst and that all of his wishes are to be undone, including Poof and Foop which I find morally problematic. After this Father Time pushes time forward 50 years to account for Timmy's wish. Imagine how terrifying it would be if you just woke up one morning 50 years older.

This was not a good solution to the problem, the CORRECT way to do this would be to keep time moving forward while keeping Timmy ten years old. The old people gimmick does nothing but pad out an episode that didn’t even need to be an hour long.

After a few minutes of exploring Timmy's new life as an old man he eventually encounters Crocker. After a brief conversation Crocker helps Timmy remember he had fairies and Crocker agrees to help Timmy find Cosmo and Wanda.

Once they find Cosmo and Wanda, they end up remembering Poof’s existence and go to Jorgen to get answers about- oh, oh GOSH. Why is Jorgen so fat?! Apparently he let himself go because of the guilt of not being able to tell Cosmo and Wanda about Poof but still. Relearning about everything that happened makes Timmy feel terrible about what he did. Jorgen then informs everyone that Poof and Timmy's wishes aren't truly gone, but in a place called the Hocus Poconos. Timmy says he plans to go there to rescue Poof and right at least one of his wrongs.

They fight a monster for a bit and then find Poof, Foop, The Crimson Chin, and Dark Laser surrounded by evil gnomes. Also they apparently can’t use magic but Foop can teleport and dress as a gnome just fine. Okay, this continuity error is very small but this is an examples of writers not PROOFREADING THEIR DAMN SCRIPTS. I can excuse the Mane Six using their Elements Of Harmony past season four as it acknowledges that they need to be brought back to the Tree Of Harmony and I’m guessing they just couldn’t use it while the chest was in place or something but this is just STUPID.

After that failure to proofread and everyone is found they begin to make their way out of the Hocus Poconos. However, the exit is being blocked by a giant fairy eating bird. In a surprising moment of selflessness Timmy sacrifices himself so the bird will be distracted and everyone else can escape.

After everyone escapes they're summoned to fairy court. The fairy council isn't happy that they brought Timmy's wishes back from the Hocus Poconos. I mean, how DARE sentient creatures not want to be erased from existence, the nerve of some people.

Before the council can do anything, Wanda interrupts them, claiming they're the ones in the wrong because even though Timmy's made quite a few mistakes, he's far from the worst god child ever.

Foop ends up demanding a retrial for Timmy Turner after seeing everyone bawl their eyes over his sacrifice and the fact he doesn’t want to go back to the Hocus Poconos but it only works once Poof convinces them. Gary-Stu much?

At the retrial Timmy apologizes for his secret wish and promises to never do something long that again. He says he doesn't care if he can never make another wish again, he just doesn't want to lose his family. The council is moved by Timmy's plea and gives him a second chance with his fairies.

Even if the episode is highly flawed and dumb. The ending is pretty sweet. I'd say it's one of the few good parts of the episode. I will admit though, I did hear that the Fairy Council made it so everything goes back to BEFORE Timmy made his wish so at least seasons nine and ten have THAT going for them.

And that was Timmy's Secret Wish. Honestly, it's a total mess. It made Timmy seem very unlikable and messed with the series as a whole. It also had to make characters extra incompetent to actually work. It's definitely one the low points of the series.

Honestly that so-called "hand of fate" closing their way out felt so dumb.
Even when I was younger when I saw it, that bit felt stupid(and the episode felt so.. eh back then)

I agree there. This is honestly why I prefer shows like MLP, they don’t insult my intelligence.

And sometimes, "Da Rules" got pretty annoying I think.

Everything about this episode is a middle finger to everything the show stood for and this is where (to me), FOP jumped the shark. Not only does his "Secret Wish" leave so many plotholes and retcons to the series. It also makes me question the Fairy Society and wonder if they even did their jobs at tracking the godkids wishes and makes them look very stupid for not stopping him sooner. I can't look at Timmy's entire character again knowing he would make a wish as profoundly evil as this and made him lose all his remaining sympathy. He's like Discord's Grogar but FAR worse.

Honestly I used to really like the fairly odd parents alot when I was younger. but when they did all the things they did later on I just lost interest. and like I've said before. I used to be a massive fan Nickelodeon when I was younger and liked a lot of their shows (more than cn and Disney). but years later I now mostly prefer the loud house invader zim and rocko's modern life to most of the other shows from nick (just with my tastes changing in later years).

I actually forgot about this episode.
