Why I don’t write G4 stories · 5:01pm Jul 2nd, 2023
So I published a blog about this earlier today but then deleted it since I felt some fans would take such offence to it that they would report me for being hateful. But since I’ve now received a story request (that I turned down) I now know I have to have this out there. Please let me try to be as inoffensive as possible.
I first became a fan of My Little Pony around a decade ago when the third season of Friendship Is Magic premiered. During the hiatus between seasons three and four I caught up on the first two seasons but by the time season four came out my life was becoming so crowded I didn’t have the time to enjoy the show. After season four ended I stopped watching the show and following the series altogether. Over the next several years the only MLP related content I saw was the four Equestria Girls movies when they were marathoning. I didn’t even see the My Little Pony movie when it came out, even though friends and family suggested I do so.
Nowadays I thankfully have the time to enjoy my favourite fandoms again, so I reconnected with the brony community just a few days before the Make Your Mark chapter two trailer was released. It was relatively easy to catch up on the events of the A New Generation movie and the Make Your Mark special and since then I’ve been able to keep up to date with G5.
This is one reason why I don’t write G4 stories. My knowledge of what happened post season four is very limited at best. But the bigger for reason for me, is the characters. Back when I was watching the show I quickly grew to love Twilight but I loathed the rest of the main cast. Applejack and Fluttershy were boring to the point of being forgettable, Rainbow pissed me off whenever she was on screen and Rarity and Pinkie really annoyed me. Looking back on the series now I have more tolerance for these five but I still don’t like them at all.
Fans of these five characters are going to hate me for this. And that’s understandable. I hate characters you love. I understand. I can’t stand fans who hate Twilight. All I ask is for everyone to be respectful.
