So, about Equestrian Pride… · 7:23pm Jun 30th, 2023
If you look at my stories page you’ll find there is a new story there titled ‘Equestrian Pride’. This was a draft for a Valentines story rewritten and published as a Pride story. It’s been up for about seventeen hours and currently has more dislikes than likes. Despite there currently being no comments to tell me what I might have done wrong the reason why this is happening is not lost on me. Namely, despite the story being described as a Pride special, the opening chapter is about Stormblazer, a straight ship. This is due to the fact that the story is mostly unchanged from the original Valentines draft and I elected to not remove the Stormblazer chapter from the book. On top of that while I had been drafting the concept before June came around I hadn’t actually started writing the story before I decided to post it as a Pride special. I am a slow writer so I was dashing to complete the story before the end of Pride Month and as a result the book is a rushed mess.
Looking at the situation my proofreader has suggested I leave the story up for a while longer to see if things change but I will most likely delete the story. I am not proud of or happy with of the end result caused by my own stupidity and feel I can do better if I take the time to. For those few of you who like the story, do not despair, for it will be replaced with a story focusing on the same three ships (Starbow, Stormblazer and Brightpetal) and using some of the same plot points but more carefully written and not set around a specific holiday.
It's not because of the writing, people just downvote anything actually queer. You get alot of downvotes on anything mlm, trans, pride themed, etc.
Your writing is just fine, it's an adorable story and I like the mistypetals alot!
It's not just Pride Month haters coming out either. They do it every year right on schedule. It's also the users who hate anything that isn't pure straight shipping on this site.
