I’ve Got News: Axtara Mostly, But Other Stuff Too · 6:15pm Jun 9th, 2023

Hey folks, it’s time for an update. An update that technically should have dropped yesterday, but … I officially started Axtara – Magic and Mayhem‘s draft yesterday and sort of forgot about the news update in a spree of joyful writing an opening/recap. Oops.

Yes, I started yesterday instead of Monday. Because … I forgot an important step in writing a sequel. Which was to read the preceding book first. So Monday I sat down with one of my copies of Axtara, and by Wednesday evening I was done. Plus I also needed to read the unpublished A Trial for a Dragon, since that involved Axtara’s brother Ryax (for timetable purposes).

But yes, once that was done, I began work. And while I’m still getting into the swing of things from my trip (and I’ve still got some lingering effects, more on that in a moment) it’s Axtara, everyone. I couldn’t help but grin as I wrote the opening chapter, and while I still need to go back and polish a few minor quibbles (this first chapter has the task of recapping and setting up the basics for new and returning readers, which is a lot of info), writing it was a lot of fun. As soon as this post is done, I’ll be back to it, as long as my hands hold up.

Speaking of which, my doc confirmed that I have, in both arms (but more in the right arm, which has had those prior injuries) a serious case of … Golfer’s Elbow. No kidding. Shrimping (specifically based on my understanding of this affliction a combination of the pot shaking and the heading) gave me “Golfer’s Elbow.” So … I should be okay … when it heals in upwards of six weeks. So for now, I keep treating it, and hope that being back at writing 3000-4000 words a day doesn’t prove too much for it.

Now, on to other news regarding a certain reward and some feedback for it … Hit the jump!
