What would you consider gore? · 9:05am May 26th, 2023
Google defines 'gore' as blood that has been shed, especially as a result of violence, but that's kida vague. The trigger warning help is also vague. If we go by the Google definition, a paper cut can be considered gore. What is the minimum about of blood that needs to be shed to be considered gore? Would it still be considered gore if one just wrote "it was then he realized his hand was chopped off" without any further details about the chopping? Do I need to put the gore tag on every story where a character sustains an injury?
I'd say gore is where it's major and descriptive. A character can have their hand chopped off in a pg-13 movie without showing any blood, or they could have their hand chopped off in an R rated movie and show the blood and bones and the pain. So I think it depends on how deep the story goes into it
If you're unsure you might wanna tag anyway, better safe then sorry
