I feel a little bit like I dodged a few bullets with this episode.
A whole episode dealing with all things aeronautical and pegasi, and nothing major unraveled. There was the bit of cloud / non-pegasi interaction that gave me a bit of pause at first, but I think I can work with it. In some ways the idea of 'compressed cloud can support non-cloud stuff' fits in quite nicely. After collecting so many clouds on the way down, it's not so implausible that the parachute would be able to shrug off falling items. Meanwhile, part of Cloudsdale looses cohesion and it starts raining furniture. Admittedly, I was originally going with a more magic-based theory, but nothing says that can't also be true.
Clouds aside, the episode gave me another pegasus location and a few more toys to play with, if I choose to use them. It also made me glad I felt the magazine scene in the story was becoming drawn out, and decide against discussing the cutie marks featuring prominently in many of its pictures... I suppose one could now argue with the 'home of the wonderbolts' line in the story's description, but... Meh.
Oh, yeah, it was a pretty darn good episode too. Even if Pinkie Pie did drive me a little bit crazy.
I personally am inclined to think that absent the specific efforts of Rainbow Dash, a cloud of the same compression would not support the rest of the mane cast falling into it. I suggest that the cloud's compression was magical in nature, as particularly exemplified by the very uncloudlike spring action it demonstrated. It wouldn't surprise me if someday a pegasus does something similar and turns a cloud into cotton candy.
Most assume Twi used the cloudwalking spell befor they came up.
