Here's the next entry on my Nine Elements glossary. This one details Amalthea, the original unicorn of Equestria.

History
Amalthea was a unicorn that lived peacefully on earth with several other mythical creatures that she used her magic to conceal from the outside world. This peace was sadly not to last. One overly ambitious troll attempted to escape to the outside world. Amalthea and Pegasus attempted to stop him, but, the troll used dirty tricks to get the better of them and left them for dead.
Meeting Megan
That very night, they were found by a young human girl named Megan. She nursed them back to health and, with their permission, began writing detailed journal entries on the two creatures on the condition that these findings remain between them.
However, Megan's younger siblings would discover them and swear to secrecy. The human youths would learn that mythological creatures were real, but, hunted to near extinction. The humans didn't believe it at first, but, Megan became a believer after seeing a circus of mythological creatures being used as a freakshow. With the help of Amalthea and Pegasus, the creatures were freed.
Brave New World
Knowing her solution was a temporary one and what likely awaits Amalthea and Pegasus, Megan pleaded them to find a new world where humans would never find them. Amalthea decided to take it a step further and create a whole new world. One inhabited by the simple, gentle species known as ponies. However, Megan would need to come in order to teach the ponies all they needed to know in order to care for themselves.
Megan agreed on the condition that a way to her old world be provided. Amalthea agreed to these terms and with her magic, she transported herself, Megan, Pegasus, and a herd of ponies on the ranch to this new world. In this new world, the ponies could talk like Megan, but, they still needed guidance.
In order to maintain moral balance in the new world, Amalthea brought creatures good, evil, and indifferent along. She mated with several Earth pony stallions to make the more equine unicorns known today. Alas, they were not immortal like her. Children she had with Pegasus, however, were. As such, the two consented to make excessive breeding between immortals forbidden, lest the world be overpopulated.
Legacy
These days, Amalthea is worshipped as the goddess of the unicorns. However, knowing that her powers are too mighty for her progeny, she watches from afar, not interfering with mortal affairs.
She and Pegasus alone fully remember Megan and what she taught.
Will Amalthea and Pegasus return in Book 9/10?

Well, let me hope that the REAL Grogar's in it because after reading this, I feel like that Grogar would be a demonic ram (like his G1 counterpart) and the creator of evil as well as the creator of monsters and being Amalthea's greatest enemy.

True, but the canon writers kind of dropped the ball on that "Discord in disguise" nonsense. Though I could see where the freedom to actually pursue a relationship with Discord without worrying about the pressures of the throne OR the press might be one of Celestia's reasons for retiring. And, in addition to THE REAL Grogar, several more of the greatest villains in G1 could be part of the Legion to make it look EVEN MORE like a true Legion and for the tactical advantage of having allies HE knows, but his enemies DON'T.
