Welcome to 2023 · 11:46pm Jan 1st, 2023

I conquered the final battles of Elden Ring yesterday afternoon before 2022 bowed out, and I immediately went back for more on New Game+, or Journey 2, as this game calls it.

Enemy health and damage slightly increases, as does the amount of runes players get. While key items important to the story have to be found again, players keep their loot, weapons, and armor, so for the most part, Journey 2 is an amusing cakewalk and victory lap in the beginning.

The Bloodhound Fang greatsword (pictured) was my saving grace for nearly all of the game's toughest fights. As the game limits you to one per run, I went back to the same boss and nabbed myself a second one to dual-wield.

This is the closest I've come to mad scientist laughter in years.

98.8 / 144.0 Medium Load.

My Endurance is my highest stat at 73.

I just freaking zoomed through two bosses and Leyndell to get to Mountaintop of the Giants to nab a second Rivers of Blood, so I'm going to see how fast I can make some bastards bleed.

Not gonna lie…slightly jealous. The Fire Giant…I will slay that foe. Once I’ve got my fill of Skyrim again. But Forbidden West calls to me too…

Ash Summons is the way to go.

Either the Mimic Tear or Black Knife Tiche. Get both of these to +10, and boss fights will be considerably easier.

I am really going to have to hunt those two down now, cause I’ve had more issue with the Fire Giant than any other boss.

Also stay on Torrent. I can't fight any giant on foot.

Ironically, the last time I attempted the Fire Giant, I got him down to near half health on foot. On Torrent, my attempts were similar, but he got me again. I’ll beat him one of these days! Might try getting those Spirit Ashses you mentioned. They might be the edge I need.

I wouldn't get anywhere close to the end of Elden Ring if I didn't have the Summons helping me out.

Tiche isn't the best in the health department, but she zooms around and is tricky to hit. Her Destined Death ability takes away a chunk of the target's HP while doing slow damage-over-time.

Mimic Tear is far, far more versatile, being an exact copy of you, and whatever gear and equipment you have. So if you're tanky, it'll be tanky too.

I like using the Rotten stray ashes, cause of it’s rot ability, but you’ve definitely convinced me on hunting down the Mimic Tear Ash Summons. Might grab Tiche while I’m at it too.

Mimic is down in the underground area; I think after the star falls after Radahn's boss fight.

Black Knife Tiche is, I think, inaccessible until you're near the end of Ranni's questline.

…..I’m gonna have to check. Cause I might’ve gotten the Mimic Tear already, went into and got part of the underground done. Not the whole thing, but got decently far. Should go back down and then come back to the Fire Giant later. After my current Skyrim run. Got a good Thief run going.
