This is the story is about how Opaline, an archeologist found the unity crystals one day in the Twilight Sparkles castle.
She then steals them and absorbs their power to get alicorn power and spreads dissention that she is better then all pony kind.
learning about the real power of the crystals she then confronts Twilight Sparkle that she has been withholding earth pony magic all this time, and gathers a rabble of her own friends. opal, haven and (a red pony)
a battle ensues. the Crystals blast rainbow beams.
in the end Twilight uses Rainbow Dashs Sonic rainboom to forcefully end the conflict destroying all the element Crystals causing a rainbow supernova that rids all the land of pony magic. she recreates the crystals from a spell of Starswirl mixed with her own and with the help of cadence and Maud creates the unity Chrystal again and hides them so it can absorb the old magic from the past.
basicly the riding magic was just the fall out between the unity crystals and elements of harmony
also i retain that haven and opal knew each other before then, and haven had a character arc
