This is a story about a sheep. A little sheep, locked deep in prison, put there by ponies. He doesn't want to be there, but then he's had to do a lot of things he doesn't want to. It's a shame he deserves to be in there.

Rejoice mine comrade. Salvation has arrived!
well it looks like Gloom is gonna find out about Preys past one way or another, welcome to lair duty Gloom hope you like a evil pincushion.
In other news Prey's completed his third or fourth massacre can't remember the score at this point, ether way there's a whole lot of bodies on either side of the Cliffs of Dove tonight.
also I'm still hoping for some bone headed Luna action, maybe transferring Prey and Crimson to guard Ponyville or something, that or bringing in some private investigator like Strange Happenstance cause he requested the position and now there's a tragic vacancy.
The last part of the chapter was cathartic, they deserved it, all of it.
Sorry Prey
Gloom...

You have simultaneously made and ruined my day. I wonder what misery awaits our dwindling supply of main characters.
Gloom dying.... that took me by surprised. I was certain all three had plot armor by now, but damn! I was wrong! Gloom ordering Prey not to kill someone to save his life is perhaps the perfect sendoff.
I'm a bit torn up, but mostly I'm looking forward to what happens next.
Aha! Just the tool I was thinking of! In fact, I had googled to see if burning trebuchet shots were actually a thing, because burning their entire paradise would have been a fun way to murder an entire civilization. sadly, that seemed to be mostly a Hollywood invention.
I didn't expect it to be used in Bollywood Fashion, but I completely approve! Prey's army might be the most terrifying thing Equestria has ever seen. Seriously, that fucking hand crab is brutal!
The Spice must flow!
Overall, one if the best chapters in the story. Brutal, unforgiving death. No plot armor. Senseless destruction that serves no purpose. All of it, amazing!
A bittersweet chapter.
Might need to raise this to an M rating.
I really love the writing, and all the horrors that come along with it.
TLDR: Everything is Luna's fault.
11144487
For me it was horrifyingly brutal. Especially because I really wanted Clan Myrrdon to survive. All they wanted was to be left alone in peace, free from Luna's grasp. Personally, I couldn't but sympathise with them.
Then again they killed Gloom and made Crimson cry...
11144550
Agreed, 100% agreed. If only she had let Clan Myrrdon and/or Prey alone! In the case of the second, it's likely that the ISND's intervention is what messed up the clan's plans of redirecting the storm, perhaps without them in the scene no one (besides maybe the Weather Tower pegasi, some sailors, and the Border Guards) would have died.
11144448
No rejoicing here. Only tears, now.
I uhm, I think it's time for a P for Prey rating.
Where's a Doom Slayer when you need one?
Nowhere, life isn't fair, and the hatred of one particular little lamb isn't fair either.
Roses are red!
Fishez are blue,
Oh Zoma Grika it's bad when Prey hates you.
loved the chapter, Great job as always! Does prey still have any troops left in his little private army, or did he send literally the whole thing onto the dove islands?
11144581
He almost certainly does, I don't think he's the sort to put all his eggs in one basket, but likely only a couple left to defend his lair, and maybe one in the crate that he gave Scenic.
He no longer has an army enough to crush a civilization.
Well. You did it. You've achieved the unimaginable. I can barely begin to process what I just finished reading, let alone what the implications might be.
Never in a million years did I think gloom would die.
at least he had a perfect send-off. In his last moment refusing to sacrifice another. Being absorbed by Prey, who refused to let go.
It also seems to have been crimson's last push into the dark side. Even before, when he was imprisoned after attacking his clan, it was in what seems to have been ritualistic combat. But now. Crimson knowingly and openly chosen an innocent to sucrifice, and asked Prey to completely murder his entire former clan.
Crimson has been pushed pass no return. I'm curious how it will affect their dynamic, even beyond gloom dying.
Speaking of which, what will they do now? Shirley they won't be returned to prison, but it's clear that the Isnd is finished. Maybe even nighthawk will quit after this.
Also Prey absorbing gloom be like:
Aw, and the a salute horror that was the ending. Matching the horror of Mayflower. Just perfect.
11144487
Did they thought?
They wished to escape the grasp of Celestia and Luna, not much different from Prey's own goals.
He already massacred many in hopes of just inching closer to that goal, most of these didn't even help as much as he hoped. Is that really that much of a difference?
Would Prey have done differently in their position? Would he not massacred a town for such a big chance to achieve his dreams of safety and being left alone?
In the end, I fell Prey has done worse for less. So I don't think they are worse then him. Both scared, both doing atrocities in hopes for self preservation.
11144448
Wow.
That aged like milk.
Might want to stick a warning at the start of the chapter that this one pushes the Teen Rating
That was... Depressing, horrifying and... Wow, just an emotional rollercoaster.
Gloom... Maybe we will see him again. But holy crap that was worse than Mayflower.

I retract my words brethren, tis a solem day. There shall be no rejoice today.

ohhhhh ma god. ohh ma god. this is definitely going to be one of my absolute favorite chapters from now on. now, ive got a theory that selenias pincushion gains a use whenever the current "holder" of it kills a person, within certain circumstance. so either that pincushion is gonna be covered in shrapnel splinters (uses from all the dead thestrals) when we see it next, or itll gain just 1 use, from that guy at the train station prey killed(?) last chapter. or im wrong and theres no new uses.
anyway, this was Fucking Awesome. sucks that gloom died though :(
11144535
Bittersweet?!?
More bitter than sweet i think.
A soldier to the end. Rest in peace, Gloom. You've earned it.
I think Prey's plan won't pan out, whatever it may be. I think absorbing his mind will serve to act as a moral guide in Prey's head; an angel on his shoulder to contrast with the devils of Garrow and Snake. And I wonder how the news will affect the gang back in Canterlot. Knowing a member of the ISND died will certainly rattle Lilly, and I'm sure it will be similar for the rest of them. I just hope their friendship will be good for the surviving duo, they need a W.
Also, as someone else pointed out, I wonder about Crimson's future development. Will he truly slide into the dark side, or will his noble side still come back?
As for Myrrdon:
Lastly, you might wanna consider switching the rating to M.
2 predictions:
Anti-thestral sentiment is going to skyrocket due to Myrrdon's attack on Haven Hay and the thousands killed.
Garrow's memories are about to come in handy for Prey. Why was that Griffin running a drug cartel? What did it get him, money and resources in the most magical place in the world. What was he going to use that for? I believe to research how bring his dead father back to life.
It is always those who are trod upon that become the greatest monsters. When the ends are not worth the means, pain will follow. You cannot escape your sins.
Hot d***, this story brings out my edgy side. I can't wait for the debrief in the coming chapters. Excellent writing!

This has to be here.
Holy shit.
This chapter- just- damn.
Bad things all around.
11144606
Rooves isn’t an acceptable permutation in specifically America, but I happen not to be American
I live for these quotes
11144619
And yet, there's that sweet, sweet revenge.
Wow, Prey finally went and done it, something that cannot be justified or forgiven no matter what. And just when i worried about him becoming too good to be relatable.
Also, how he plans to prove his words to Crimson? Trust and stuff is good, but there's no way it can be enough.
Haha, oh wow. Halfway through I was thinking it would have been interesting for Prey and Crimson to go all Deeper Green on the clan, but I guess Prey is too efficient for that nowdays. No magic means no hope.
I'll miss Gloom. I can't imagine what things are going to be like without him. Will Luna finally let them go after this service, or saddle them with another sergeant? Ahh! Keep going! Please!
11144550
AnD everything that isn't Luna's fault is probably caused by one of Celestia's zealots.
11144640
Future chapter:
Prey: I'm going to kill them all.
Gloom: Even the children? Why?
Prey: 40% of people I kill are because I let someone live as a child.
Gloom: Understandable, have a nice day.
11144614
i was thinking of that exact scene when crimson was crying on the train :((
This was an excellent chapter. I hope we never see its like again.
I think the introduction of the young mare with the atrophied legs who learned to triumph through her disability, only to describe her grisly murder in the very next paragraph was teetering on the precipice of good taste, and I hope it's as worse as it gets. I say this as someone who is greatly enjoying the story.
I echo the sentiment that the rating be upgraded to Mature. This chapter represents a watershed moment.
…what the I knew that Myrrdon was doomed, but all I can say is… what a waste.
We finally get to see the result of Preys’ labors in the mountain… and it’s gone. An army, a town, a people, a friend.
Ps: is Trailblazer dead? He was left outside, so I assume he didn’t make it
As always, the author has managed to advance the story in such a way i never imagined and made it work.
I never really expected Gloom to die, even while reading this i thought Prey could find some way to save him. And to have this happen alongside the thing i've been waiting for, for Crimson and Gloom to find out about at least a few of Prey's abilities like reading minds and the lengths Prey is willing to go to if it means accomplishing his goals.
Also, i fear that we might be in the last quarter of the story, especially considering that one of the main three is now no more (Probably, though maybe Pray can do the unthinkable and bring him back as unlikely as that is.).
Keep in mind though that that assumption is based of of where i think the direction of this story might go and predicting next chapters of this story has turned out to be quite difficult, as shown by this chapter.
I figure if Prey was on that island, in person choosing who lives and dies, he would've stopped.
The moment he realized he was killing mothers and children I think he wouldn't have been willing to continue, he would've seen himself as a young lamb when his village was destroyed.
He was in an emotional state, a rage, and for him all it took was a split second decision to kill everyone.
Fire and forget weapons like that don't let you see the results, or have a dilemma and change your mind, for him it's nothing more than a split second choice from someone in grief and shock who just lost a friend.
If he was there, I think he would've killed their leaders, the ones responsible, and left it as that.
He's definitely going to regret this.
Thanks for the chapter!
I am much the sads about this. But also a really cool chapter.
Would be interesting if some ponies defected because they went against their own word to not harm Gloom and Crimson. Like a last minute mutany where they banished sympathizers from the clan. A political power play of sorts to leave the nay sayers behind in the old world. It doesn't seem likely that 100% of the clan would be okay with murdering their own, even if they were exiled.
11144640
I had to check that and see if it actually was T and Holy Shit this should be M. Yep.
11144790
Yea, this chapter crossed the line from probably T, to definitely M.
Nothing was left to the imagination for us to fill the gaps like it usually is.
It's visceral.
This chapter has now solidified this story as “god-tier” on this site.
Man, when you said that anyone could die, I thought you were going to kill Carton Juice or something. I wasn't ready for this!

Wow...
Just wow...
This chapter has completely blown me away
