This is a story about a sheep. A little sheep, locked deep in prison, put there by ponies. He doesn't want to be there, but then he's had to do a lot of things he doesn't want to. It's a shame he deserves to be in there.

Well this was a sad chapter... Fuck that went sideways, can't imagine what happened that lead to Prey suppressing it.
Everything burns in the end it seems...
Though I really REALLY want to know what Prey told Crimson now.
Loved it!
Well then…. I started this chapter wondering how the investigation would go, and instead found myself gaping at a roller coaster of a chapter. Well done
Ps; sent you a DM of some errors I found.
He came up with a method mb? Im not sure, never actually studied English grammatics.
not like ofc.
Is chemistry a thing in ponyland? If so, where does carbon come from?
And what could be in Crimson's mind that Prey found it too disturbing to know?
10930132
May not be disturbing, it seems that Prey was crying once time restarted.
10930132
10930131
Hello and thank you for those corrections (I'm sure they're more hiding in there, but thanks for what you did find 😇)
10930137
Either something REALLY dramatic about Crimson's past, or some private thoughts that make it impossible to act as if nothing happened.
I mean, Prey should be very careless to tell the truth right in the palace courtyard and assume nobody will listen.
Wew, it went very dark very quick, had to tamper his own memories, decided to purge the mountain itself and burn down a train.
Feels very bad, and there's still the threat of Strange Happenstance and changelings aren't still out of the picture yet.
Also Prey is slipping, there are spies around (the word was even thrown in at some point hah) and he reveals a big plan that would deserve a small eternity in stone ? Prey come on, of course it's getting heavier and heavier on the mind when you try to do good, but this is reckless.
Welp, I can only wait to see what will happen next, always a great chapter, I don't have enough of it.
10930137
10930132
It wasn't necessarily disturbing. What Prey knows is; that through a topic of conversation (one he can't remember), Crimson told him something important but bad, and he felt it was important enough to reveal his mind magic to offer to remove the conversation from both of their memories.
The why he felt compelled could be the most important reason. Was it out of pity? Compassion? Friendship? Or simply because Crimson immedidetly regretted sharing whatever his secret was. "Hmm..."
10930159
Bleh, a loose end, Crimson may be a "friend", but he's also eager to please Luna.
Wasn't the reason why they were both recruited ?
I'm pretty sure between his duty and Prey he'll chose his duty, not out of malice, but because it would easily be the "best" option for everyone included.
i'm... wary of him, because unlike an enemy, Prey won't be able to remove him.
Man this chapter was too dark for me.
10930165
Lol, that sounds like Lemon Pink logic there
I guess we will just have to keep piecing things together for now

Ah, that's the stuff.
Another very good chapter, I have a very strong feeling I know what happened in the blanked memory. I'm fairly certain that when questioned by Crimson, a back and forth started that eventually led to Prey spilling everything to him, which also likely rattled Crimson enough to leave his mind open to Prey, which revealed several of Crimson's own secrets. I'm also expecting that despite it all Crimson was able to understand and empathies with Prey but that he wanted to forget it all anyways because it was to horrible. That or Crimson didn't accept Prey and the pain of being rejected by his only friend was too much and he locked it away. I also really loved the detailing of the ending and the hints of more dark dealings still to come.
Wow, now that's a scary fire.
Invisible, deadly, fast, massively wide spread, killing likely thousands without even a warning
And all of that in a package slowly rolling around by itself the size of a football.
10930198
I based the idea of invisible fire off methonal, which is basically invisible when burning. Very dangerous, as I'm sure you can imagine. 💀
Buckle up because the Prey-Changling war intensifies. I'm really curious what the Changlings think of Prey. They know he's a night guard, so do they think Luna is behind the Purge? What ever they believe, I bet they're ready for revenge.
10930211
Which is exactly the first thought that appeared in my mind. The picture of racecar drivers flailing around wildly and you having to be told that they're on fire is some... strange stuff.
Also, I would like to shed one tear for the semi-sapient drones. There, one tear. Drones are meant to be cannon fodder anyways, so it's best not to waste emotion on them.
Oh My cat, this CAP Is soo good .
I really don't speak English ,but i notice a littles errors gramsticlas

Did you understand what i meant?
10930326
Pretty awful grammar but I think I understood it.
The changeling takeover of the crystal caves would be a pretty big strategic advantage. The fact that Prey delayed them at least once, maybe twice, and he may have turned them off of using the crystal caves as a staging ground, may have seriously tipped the balance of power in the coming conflict. Imagine that, Prey unwittingly saving Equestria. A little genocide can go a long way, eh?
another lovely chapter as usual! one question answered (what was he doing with the fancy magic metal?), and, like, 4 more created.
also, side thought, if theres runes that transfer other runes onto a different surface when activated, could one theoretically make a bunch of literal trap cards with some deadly array on one side, and an array that transfers it on the other? next time some unsavory individual tries to interact with you, just hand them the card and activate it once theyve touched it in your hand (hoof?)
So Prey is making history again. The one in twenty odds is actually quite horrifying when you keep in mind that only 6 of higher changelings directly survived to reform era. I think math wise, 400 dead non-drones is a low ball for just the first purge considering that all the other events they had to survive. And the Higher Changelings were the minority. Was there suppose to be an army invasion or two in the mountain? Death numbers that can be into the 2,000 range possibly for each time would be a noteworthy Purging .
Also on the Crimson question, I think it was may more of Crimson asking right out “Can Prey do magic? Or How old are you really, you can’t be a child?” Lines than Prey spilling secrets. Something that was thought hidden but was figured out. Maybe what Crime, or lack of, did Prey did to get arrested?
10930606
I think part of the problem with that, is you'd have to use the card in spitting distance of yourself. And Prey's traps tend to be on the turn-you-inside-out side of things. Prey can't exactly throw them very far either, and if he could he'd probably not need them as badly. It's just not Prey's style to fight people directly anyway, too much risk involved if your enemy even knows where you are or what is killing them.
He'd have to create something very different with his runes from the traps he's made thus far. A weapon that could be wielded in spite of Preys pitiful physique but could dispatch someone immediately in a pinch without having to get too close. What Prey really needs is a gun. Rune gun, pew pew. 🔫🐑
Are you trying to out-secrecy Prey? War has made Prey paranoid, and when mimics try to outsmart him, his Agent Orange acts up and he feels the urge to kill!
Oh how I love the smell of napalm in the morning.
10930286
Yes, unfortunately, drones are fodder to enemies who don't fight traditionally. And when you think about it, there a completely unwilling army, because they don't have any choice in the matter.
They'd overwhelm Guards in a straight fight, but indirect giant magical attacks? Not so much. And what is the math, something like:?
1000 Drones = 10 Infiltrators?
10 Infiltrators = 1 Princess (Or 1 Prince, hey? 😁)
All of them = ... still not worth 1 Queen Chrysalis, but you get the idea.
10930606
I guess it would depend on the material of the card, (as what can hold runes is a very big part of the restrictions), but if it wasn't card, but some sort of sheet of magical material instead, then in theory, yes. 😉 (Or Prey could just reach over and poke them with his mind-breaking hoof)
"You just activated my trap card! Go, instant agonising death!"
"Minions! All I ask is that they get up any hour of the day or night and cater to my every whim and the next thing you know they're saying that they are oppressed."

I think it's really interesting that he removed his own memories, I hope we get to know what they were eventually
Chapter 82.6 in which prey crafts a balefire bomb and the readers learn that the alt universe tag is because it was a fo:e crossover the whole time lol
Editor or no, not actually that bad considering these are the only two errors I found. Probably missed others, but these are the ones I noticed.
10930919
Ah, yes, that is how all Zebra balefire bombs were made, using rare orichalcum stolen from Equestria. I wonder what they used for Canterlot...
Well at least I was right that Prey would make an easy case for the ISND… This means that the theme of this arc may still be unknown. But it was kind of logical, 67% of the arcs only reveal the main topic in the fifth chapter or later, so we may still have like two to four chapters till we confirm it…
The last part is the most important, because I think it is the first time that we read about the future: the second incursion may be a victory for Prey (or a stalemate) but on the third one he is no longer there (or he lost). And secondly, we can at least assume that he will not be publicly discovered, because it would say something like ‘the Canterlot warlock’ burned/purged…
The endings of the past chapters are quite interesting, but I don’t think I’m able to discern yet if they will have an impact: “He would not forget, and would always remember - Prey would remember, though. He never forgot. - Prey did not forget. Nor did he forgive” 🤔
10930606
I would say that he already has something like that: his silk ribbon. With passive, defensive and attack runes…

Thank you to everyone who haws pointed out mistakes to fix so far. Hopefully, there aren't too many more still hiding.
I've noticed a dittography
I think you meant "that was the optimistic way"
I think that the "was" is supposed to be a "had".
You accidentally misspelled "tried".
I think you mean "debris".
"An".
I think you mean "four kilograms of the metal".
I think it's "stained glass", but if it's also known as just "stain glass", then nevermind.
Misspelled "somepony"
Misspelled "somepony" again.
Forgot an H in "where"
Misspelled "through"
I'll admit that my grammar isn't the best in the world, and that this might be perfectly acceptable, but I'm just going to assume that you meant "too" instead of "of". Do correct me if I'm wrong.
Misspelled "this"
Misspelled "foreleg"
I think you mean "the"
Again I'm not entirely sure if this is a mistake or not, but if so, I think you mean "behind". If it's not a mistake, then nevermind.
I think it should either be "pretending to hesitate" or maybe "pretending hesitation". The first one is probably what you meant, but I think the second one works as well.
I think you mean "weren't". I think that's what you mean, it not, then please let me know.
Another dittography.
And a final dittography, to end it on.
Those were all the mistakes I could find.
It was a great chapter, this one, once again leaving me wanting for more. I especially like the visual of rainbow light thrown over the environment and the characters in the dark of night, almost like light streaming through stained glass windows.
10930966
Realised is only spelled with a z in american english.
10931757
Tis not like I practice other types of English nor particularly care about them. I say it as I see it, I don't really see the need to point that out when the difference is so minuscule that's it boils down to preferential differences that change nothing important. So long as nothing is glaringly obvious, substantial, or particularly annoying, I don't really care all too much about grammar.
Little disappointed by that ending since it tells that prey action wony affect the events of canon events so that limits the scope of what prey will do in future
10932155
Ah, not quite. 😅 Just that the Changelings are still going to be starving to death, and thus, still try for invasion.
In my opinion, that outcome would have been building up for a long time, years, long before the Mane 6 did anything. So the changeling attack was always going to happen in one form or another.
Other things are less set in stone.
10932210
referring to the mention of the future changeling reformations showing that future be the same as the show, so prey not caused any major waves other then being the changeling buggy man
10931660
HI, thanks for re-taking your old mantle, and helping find those mistakes. 😌
10932155
So far author made awesome job of making official canon look deep and realistic, but im not sure its even possible with what Hasbro did to changelings. Demoting the best Queen to "hurr durr im evil" cardboard villain was too painful to watch at.
10934730
pretty much, Lambs plays in the grey areas, Prey just killed a bunch of good bugs, but it doesn't change anything about the invasion plan.
I'd even say this is even a great excuse for a glaring plothole, why would Chrysalis ask her army to waste time and slam their heads against a shield instead of just lying in ambush in the crystal caves ? Well because they were cleared out and maybe full of toxic gaz.
Now the canon show doesn't seem as dumb as it was.
The invasion will be a "fun" opportunity for this story too, since Luna was missing while her big sis got blasted, I can't wait to read the reason.
Well then. For a while I was expecting this to be uneventful! I'm beginning to regard this story like an ongoing antihero comic series that I hope never ends.
10930743
I mean he already has somewhat of a weapon for himself, his ribbon. While not a weapon in the traditional sense the fact that it can effectively cancel magic with a touch makes it extremely powerful when used in combination with Prey's intelligence.
10939323
And everyone seems to forget how Prey bought a bunch of knives for that specific purpose. I bet with all the time he had to infuse runes they can 1shot a manticore now.
Saddens me so often to see how much of blind fool Luna is in, she would like to be loved and adored yet she remains in the shadow of Celestia in Canterlot. In this story she could have strong following and love from the other races (and Ponies too!) in the borderlands if she would stand with them instead of sniveling in Canterlot being a tool.
Rallying resources, setting up 'Lunar Militia' from the non-ponies and having her Night Guard working off Canterlot (since they are not wanted) to make them more able to deal with the dangers and maybe even stomping about solving bigger problems with elite squad. Doing even few of these things and she would create her own power base and loving followers.
Yet there she remains in Capital, being all edgy and sad.
10943513
It really looks like she's not all there. Reminds me of people with dementia or after stroke, who can be still competent in what they were doing in the past, but stuck in their memories. My theory is that NMM done lasting damage to her mind and body that even Elements weren't able to fix.
