Writer's Workshop #6: Potpourri · 8:20pm Jul 13th, 2013

Hey, everyone!

Been a while since I've done one of these. I actually took a writing class over the summer, so I have some new info under my belt to share with you. This post is gonna be a bunch of random points I've been thinking about but haven't explained.

New e-mail address! · 4:58pm Mar 7th, 2013

Hello, all!
I'm trying something that I think will help protect my anonymity and make it more obvious who I am during editing work. I've created a new e-mail address, alicornpriest@gmail.com, whose "name" is Alicorn Priest. For everyone who's using my current address and name (you know what I mean), I'd be really grateful if we could start the transition. Could you please readjust the reading/commenting/editing rights from my old account to this one?

Rebirth of Alicorn Priest · 11:45pm Feb 15th, 2013

I looked at someone's post back on the last thing I did. 26 weeks! I can't believe I let an entire half of a year go by without an update. For that, I am deeply, deeply sorry. I'm really hoping I'll be getting more down much more quickly than that, but of course we'll have to see. I'm afraid I'm not quite inspired or talented enough to be a good writer, especially when I get distracted with other stuff. Suffice to say, I hope to have more stuff for you soon!

Poet's Workshop #5: Rhythm and Rhyme · 8:34pm Aug 20th, 2012

Yep, today we're going to be talking about poetry! To be honest, poetry is a lot like prose writing (that's the fancy-pants word for stories and whatnot). Poetry just has extra rules that limit what you can say and how you can say it. I'm gonna walk you through a couple different types of poems, getting more complex as we go. Hopefully, you'll start to understand the rules of poetry. After that, you'll be writing poems like a boss!

Writer's Workshop #4: Avoiding the Comma Splice · 11:08pm Jul 24th, 2012

Hello, everyone!

Today, we're going back to basics. Eventually, this will teach you how to identify and correct a comma splice, but to do that, I need to go all the way to the simplest concept of sentences.

Here's the first thing you need to learn: you speak terrible English. Uh uh uh. You speak terrible English. Guaranteed. "Hey, Bob, what's up?" "Nothing much, you?" "Eh, I'm fine. How's the wife?" "Can't complain. Seein' anyone yet?" "Nah, man. Well, I gotta go. See ya!" "See ya."

Writer's Workshop #3: Thou vs. Thee and -est vs. -eth · 6:42pm Jul 1st, 2012

Okay, so I know I just did a Writer's Workshop a couple of days ago, but I got the idea to do another one from one of my stories I'm proof-reading.

Lesson of the Day: Grammar.

Writer's Workshop #1: Basic Sentence Structure · 9:14pm Jun 26th, 2012

Hello, visitors, and welcome to this, the first in a series of posts I'm going to call "Writer's Workshop." (I was going to go with Atelier de Perfectionnement, but I had trouble spelling it.) This will be a series of crash courses on English grammar, spelling, and narrative. I may be a proof-reader, but my job is much more difficult if you don't know these basics. As such, rather than teach all of you separately, I'm going to make these posts for you! Everypony who comes for my help
