A literature device used in fiction to contribute to the conflict in said story, to make the reader/watcher sit on the edge of their seat, to add to the overall quality of the work in question.

I just got back from seeing the Piano Guys in concert, and it was amazing. If you don't know who they are, you should. I've used some of their music in certain chapters of Melodious Desideratum, and I think they're amazing. Anyway, it rained the whole time and it was fabulous.
