It seems to be fashionable to criticize Filly Fooling these days, as is evident by the most recent comments. Let me just say that I completely agree that the story took a turn for the worst after the first couple of chapters. The reasons for the decline of the story are actually a bit personal, and I am only willing to discuss them to an extent. Here is more or less why this story took a downturn.
There's really no reason for it. I've got a lot of free time right now, but I'm spending it on other things. I keep intending to get back into writing, and then another day goes by with me having written nothing.
Why is this the case? It's something I plan on figuring out. Until then, I probably won't be coming out with new material. Hopefully you'll understand.
1. What is your first name? James, not Jim. Jim is my father.
2. How old are you? 22
3. What country are you from? The United States of America
4. What do you really look like? (pictures are acceptable) I'm not posting a pic of what I look like. I have brown hair, brown eyes, and a goatee. I'm about average height and weight.
5. What do you wish you looked like? I'm okay with what I look like now.
Hello everyone,
Tagging Spread because it's relevant to this discussion of my plans for future writing.
I've decided to table a sequel idea for now, because I want to take a break from that story and try to write something else.
First of all, obviously my "April Fool's Day" joke was stupid, just like last year's. This, however, is not a joke blog post. In fact, I was considering waiting until midnight to post this just so people know it's not a joke, but I think it's really silly to conform to the conventions of a "holiday" as trivial as April Fool's Day. No, this is something that's actually gnawing at me, and I want to get it out there.
Here's what you guys are saying about Spread.
Hi guys,
I've been giving this a lot of thought recently, and I've decided that writing for this fandom just isn't fun anymore. I got sick of Spread while I was writing it, which has happened with stories in the past, and these stories have ended up worse for it. I find it difficult to finish what I start, and I am far too sensitive to criticism, even when it's constructive.
On August 26, 2013, I posted the opening chapters to a story that I never expected to last 217 days. Now, I am finally drawing Spread to a close.
My deepest regrets were the increasing lapses between chapters and the lack of explicit material of satisfying length. This last chapter is no different in that regard, but it was time for me to put this story to bed.
Hello!
I just updated Spread with a rather short chapter in an attempt to wrap up the two side arcs of the story. I also want to let you know that there will be one chapter of Spread left featuring Twilight and Rarity, and that's going to bring the story to a close.
Hello,
A lot of writers on the site talk about struggling to find motivation to write. I am included in this group, but that's not the point of this blog post.
My point is that I can't find motivation to read.
Aside from helping out a few friends on the site with their stories, I don't read any of the stories in my read later or favorites lists. The most jarring example is Dianwei32's Unexpected Confessions, which my sister tells me is great.
