We’re finally at the midpoint of Season 1, and we’re ending with a bang. I’ve always said this was one of the top 5 episodes of the season, and this is one time when my sentiment hasn’t changed. I loved this episode, and I still do. You’ll just have to read more to see why that is.

When I think back on this episode, I think it’s a really funny episode with a very memorable ending. But if you’ve been keeping up with my reviews, you’ll notice that what I think in retrospect and what I now think can be two very different things. This is the first Fluttershy episode in the show, and is probably one of the biggest reasons why so many people started to love Fluttershy. She’s one of my favourite characters, but in the beginning, I didn’t like her quite as much. Whether or not that’s because her first major role was weak is what I plan on discussing today. Hopefully not, considering the writer of this episode (Meghan McCarthy) is my favourite writer on the show.

This is the first episode that’s controversial in the show, as most people had relatively positive thoughts on the first 4/5 episodes. I feel like this is mostly because of the characters being mad at Trixie’s boastfulness, even though that’s pretty much her job as a stage performer.
