Chapter 6/7 A/N · 12:40am Sep 11th, 2012
So here's the authors notes for chapters 6 & 7, for anyone who actually finds that sort of thing interesting. I was going to get it up at lunch today, but shit...lunch, you know?
I Drink And Write One Story. Slowly. Now I Just Drink. I Have No Idea What I'm Even Doing Anymore
So here's the authors notes for chapters 6 & 7, for anyone who actually finds that sort of thing interesting. I was going to get it up at lunch today, but shit...lunch, you know?
Chapter 7 is now up and mostly ready for reading. I feel it turned out a hell of a lot better than chapter 6, although my view of that chapter may be colored by personal b.s.
I'll write up the authors notes for both chapters tomorrow, probably around lunch. For right now, it's late, and I still have to put the stupid laundry away before I hit the rack.
I am currently out of town. Unlike just about every other trip out of town I've taken, however, I found myself in a position where I could sit in my hotel room in Sacramento, drinking green tea and chain smoking cigarettes as I banged away at my woefully out of date laptop, doing a damn fine job of work editing chapter 7. I just need to go over the final two scenes, and it should be released sometime tomorrow, barring any unforeseen circumstances. See you guy's Sunday!
Chapter 6 is up and you probably should go read it. I don't know, I'm not real happy with it myself. My solace, however, lies in the fact that I like chapter 7 (which is really part two of chapter 6) much better, so maybe I'll feel more satisfied when I post it. Or maybe it's just that it's late and I'm tired. Either way, I'm heading to bed.
I started editing the first half of chapter 6, with the intention of posting it tonight. Unfortunately, I had to run out of town for an unexpected thing, and just got back about twenty minutes ago. Now I have to get crap ready for work.
SO, long story short, expect part one of chapter 6 tomorrow (hopefully), with part two (which we'll just go ahead and call chapter 7) a day or two after that. Sorry about the delay folks, but it's almost here.
OK, as of about ten minutes and four or five beers ago, chapter six is complete. Well the writing portion, anyway. And my previous estimates of almost-but-not-quite the same length as chapter five (~9K words) have proven to be... well short isn't the right word. Naive and stupid might fit, but short definitely doesn't. As it currently sits, it's about 15.5k words.
Today has been a never ending frustration of distractions. Came home for lunch, got into a good groove with the chapter, then - phone calls. Still had a good head of steam on it, get home from work, shower (because nobody likes to write when they're covered in ten year's worth of dust, insulation, ceiling tile flakes and a days worth of sweat), sit down and touch the keyboard - phone call. Get off a while later (of the phone, you pervs), get a couple of paragraphs fired out, feeling
So my initial plan was to have the next chapter out already, but the last two weeks haven't left me with any time to work on it. The week and weekend before last I had a house full of guests and some prior commitments to attend. Last week I got some work done on it, and was planning on getting it banged out by the weekend, but then my baby girl was born, and I spent late Saturday night until yesterday in a hospital in Sacramento.
Well it's been a couple of weeks, so I suppose I should throw out another update. Hopefully this one will be pretty short, as far as the last few updates have gone. I think that'll be easier on all of us. I don't have to write so much, and you don't have to sift through such a quantity of mundanity (I just made up a word :D) to find the nuggets of progress strewn within. Win friggin win, baby.
And now it's time for the second weekly update. Did it seem like I forgot? Well I damn near did, so you're partially correct, at any rate. Although, I've been thinking about this weekly update deal. One a week seems...sort of mundane, you know? I can see this progressing towards more a cookie cutter type of scheme, with no real meat to it. Worked on the story, up to x number of words, still no release date. Boring, you see? So I'm thinking I'll post on more of a bi-weekly schedule, or
