I think it is better that you attempt to begin by reading through the guides that they have there, and learn from the people there who have dedicated themselves to helping new writers get their feet wet and spread their wings.

The "letters in the beginning" that I'm assuming that you are talking about are in bold, such as when a chapter title is introduced. They are found in the editing palette that appears above a chapter, a message, or a comment when you go to write it. It is the line that begins with the "B" above your message. There is something similar in the story chapters.
