Cloud Kicker's Rules For Banging · 8:12pm Mar 13th, 2023

Hand copied so not exacy as in The Life and Times of a Winning Pony so not exactly as written.
1) No Regrets.
NEVER bang anyone if you or they will regret it later.

2) No Complications
All relationships got baggage. They got too much baggage, don't do it no matter how hot they are. This includes kids, parents, mutual friends who are going to get weird about it etc. NEVER bang anyone looking for anything more than a 1 night stand.

Just Learned · 7:43pm Feb 25th, 2023

We Baby Boomers (1946 to 1964 or 1965) are divided into 2 groups.
1) Those who were military age to potentially serve in Vietnam (1965-1973).
2) Those too young for that.

Or, Hippies & Yuppies. There are some similarities but some significant differences. (We got the Beatles & the British Invasion. They got the Bee Gees & disco).

Interesting Fact

WE can't stand each other any more than anyone else can stand either one of us!

Woke · 8:09am Feb 10th, 2023

As a Baby Boomer, it seems like damn near everything I grew up on is under attack.
Let's see
Wizard of Oz books
The Wizard of Oz
The book was published in 1900 & has been in print ever since. The Oz books are the best selling children's books of all time by an American author. (There are some better selling ones but they're by Brits.)

The left doesn't like them because Baum wrote several editorials urging the American Indians be exterminated.

Epigrams · 3:01am Feb 3rd, 2023

I used to read almost everything Noted Curmugeon Mark Twain ever wrote. Some of his more notable turns of phrase.

It's hard to find the good in some people & it's harder when there isn't any.

(ICR but I think he was talking about Kaiser Wilhelm 1.)

"The fools in town are on our side. Isn't that a big enough majority for any man?"

The "Duke of Bridgewater" (Huckleberry Finn).
Donald Trump agrees!

Asimov · 7:41am Sep 3rd, 2022

Isaac Asimov tried writing when he was 11. Didn't work & he abandoned it. He started writing "Cosmic Corkscrew" at age 17. He sold it at age 18.

It's not the best Asimov. He didn't really hit his stride until after he wrote 31 other stories. "Nightfall", his 32nd story sold when he was 21. It was later voted a Hugo for The Best Sci-fi Story Ever Written.

How Old Am I? · 2:45am Sep 3rd, 2022

  • Dial telephones were state of the art & there were 2,000,000 payphones in the USA alone.
  • Stores sold guns & no one protested. Stores sold porn, THAT was protested
  • Television was in black and white & so was everything else
  • When they called cigarettes "coffin nails" they thought they were joking.
  • Cartoons were violent. Schools weren't.

Writers I Grew Up With · 1:50pm Aug 28th, 2022

As I am pushing 70, the writersvI grew up with are pretty much all dead. Many of them stopped writing before most bronies were even born. So, a few rambling thoughts on them.

Who Were They?

Well, they were mainly Greatest Generation (name coined by broadcaster Tom Brokaw in 1998). They were born 1901-1927. They endured the Great Depression and WW2. They were the parents of us Baby Boomers.
Asimov, Clarke, & Heinlein were the best of them.

Stuff Learned Along The Way · 2:08am Jul 16th, 2022

I read Black Beauty as a child. I was thinking about it today & I remembered that Black Beauty's stable caught on fire & he supposedly ran back into it.

I checked on the internet & horses really do that almost all the time. A fire marshal explained that horses do that because they associate their stable with safety. He said it was like little children going back to their bedroom & often hiding under their bed when their house is on fire.
