I don't know if any of you read manga, but I do.

So, I mentioned this in my authors note, but I have no idea how many people actually read those, (what do you mean, they're mostly pointless? I don't ramble!) so I though I'd try out the nifty 'tagged story' feature on these blogs.
If you are confused or interested in the magic system I use for my story Gladiator, I've written an explanation of the basics, disguised as a lesson for Sweetie Belle.
Some days, I sit in front of my computer, and words pour out of me in a torrent. They might not be particularly good, but they're plentiful, and writing is easy-breezy; inspiration seems to flow endlessly and effortlessly.
Other days, I bite my lip in frustration, searching futilely for the spark that will ignite an idea and start the words coming. Sometimes I find it, sometimes I give up and go to bed.
A bit more writing advice. Here's something that's been bouncing around the inside of my head for a week or so. I hope that writing it out will get rid of it!
If you're a writer who's asked for criticism, there's a pretty good chance that you've heard the phrase "Show, Don't Tell." This is good advice, but it can be frustrating to hear, especially since there are few satisfying explanations of what exactly it means.
So, this is something I've been thinking about for awhile, and I thought maybe someone else could benefit from it. The best use I could think of for these blogs was writing advice, and that is what this is. Here we go; my thoughts on how to avoid Mary Sue, through proper use of pacing a story.
