One of the biggest influences on my writing has got to be the epic space opera TV series Babylon 5. It's mildly upsetting to me how few people I know who are all about sci fi TV shows have never given it a chance. It's not like Star Trek. The chapter of The Diamond Exchange I'm working on is very ambitious. Every time I think it's ready for posting, a reread reminds me that I'm not quite there yet.
