Spike

As I look into the mirror, I see a little dragon,
With big blue eyes, and a small, green tail flagon.
I'm just a baby, still learning and growing,
But the thought of growing up, it just keeps showing.

I don't want to grow up, and lose my sense of wonder,
Or let the stress and the pressure, pull me under.
I want to keep exploring, and discovering new things,
And find joy in the little moments, that life brings.

But as I look into the mirror, I see the changes start to occur,
I'm getting taller, and stronger, and my wings start to spur.
I see the signs of adulthood, creeping up on me,
And the thought of it all, fills me with anxiety.

I'm not ready to grow up, and take on all that comes with it,
The responsibilities, and the expectations, I don't think I can fit.
I'm just a little dragon, still innocent and pure,
But the thought of growing up, it fills me with a scary allure.

So I'll take it one day at a time, and try to stay brave,
And hope that I'll find the strength, to make it through the waves.
Of adulthood, and all its challenges and strife,
And find a way to grow up, without losing my life.
